I’ve written this post and deleted it a couple times now simply because I felt like I wasn’t able to put into words the emotions I felt while fulfilling this cookie order, but here goes a try!
I took on this order from a fellow cookier (Huge S/o to her for considering me)
I got details from her, then got in contact with the customer and made sure to ask all questions needed.
She told me her son was leaving for basic training soon and these cookies were for a party she was throwing him.
She has 2 boys, just like me, but her boys were much older.
I could feel the emotion through her text messages when explaining what they were for and when she told me just how fast the time has flown by.
Although we had never met before, my mama heart could feel hers through the screen.
As I start making my dough, I throw in the butter and a thought comes to mind…
I wonder what my oldest son will want to do once he gets older, my customer is such a strong mom and I know she is so proud of her son.
I throw in my sugar, and here comes another thought….
When I started decorating the dog tag, I won’t lie… my eyes got watery as I put myself in her shoes.
This is what being a baker is all about!
It is being able to make home made treats (made with love, thoughts, prayers, and beautiful emotions) for you and your loved ones to enjoy at incredibly special occasions.
I can only hope to bring you even an ounce of joy when you see the cookies I have created for you and then maybe a smile once you get a chance to eat one.
Although I know time is a thief, this order reminded me once again to enjoy every minute of every day.
And isn’t it funny how this order, which originally wasn’t meant for me, made its way to me.
Maybe it was meant for me afterall. 🙂
