My goodness! I didnt know about this. I have taught hearthside and open fire cooking off and on since I was 17. May I recommend the book by Nancy Carter Crump which is considered the bible of hearthside cooking. Another one For The Love of Fire and the Lewis and Clark Cook-booklet! Or you can just contact me for a class or advice and I will teach you how to use your "hearth/ fireplace." Or watch this guy! HA!

People have come to me and asked why I am against "Mandatory" Food Labeling of GMO's when I am so dead set against the use of GMO's. Let's talk about the campaign for labeling "We have a right to know what is in our food!" Hmm? OK, well yes we should know what we are eating that is for sure! Do we have a responsibility to educate ourselves when it comes to the food we put in our bodies? ABSOLUTELY! Do you really think we can force morality on big business? If we have to force a company that already manufactures food using GMO's, artificial flavors and colors, preservatives and chemicals do you really want to eat their food after it is labeled? Of course you don't because they certainly are NOT going to change the recipe that has made them billions of dollars. We are giving them the OK to continue poisoning the populous. We are also making a huge statement that we have no self control, we do not govern our own bodies or our children's bodies, we are incapable of just saying no to bad food or unlabeled food. Are we really going to hand it over to the very government departments like the FDA, USDA and local health departments that have allowed it to now monitor it? Bottom line, the only way we are going to insure healthier options in our food supply is this...don't buy food that is not labeled!! Buy it from producers that gladly, openly and by their choice have already labeled it. Buy from producers that have an open door policy on their manufacturing process. No one and I mean NO ONE is forcing you to buy food that is not labeled. Make better choices, take responsibility for your own bodies and if it isn't labeled then by all means PLEASE walk away from it. Nothing speaks louder then the almighty dollar. If you are refusing to buy unlabeled items I can guarantee that they will come around change their recipe or just quit manufacturing it. They will end up labeling it because they will not want to lose the money. This is the way we cull out the bad people from the good people. If we make it a law, we end up taking our own moral, healthful and educated decisions away from ourselves!
I hope through my rambling that I've helped those that want forced labeling to look at it in a more logical and self reliant way!

Millions of bees dropped dead after GMO corn was planted few weeks ago in Ontario, Canada. The local bee keeper, Dave Schuit who produces honey in Elmwood lost about 37 million bees which are about 600 hives.

The Gluten Free Girl & the Chef, (Shauna and Daniel Ahern) are two of the three people I truly feel in my heart saved my life almost three years ago now. I found their cookbook 'Gluten Free Girl & the Chef (A Love Story)' in Bobs Red Mill store when I was looking for information on gluten free flours. Something told me to buy "this" book and from that day forward my health began to improve. Before their book I thought my life as a baker was over, they showed me otherwise! They opened up a whole new world of flours and methods to me.
I had the pleasure of meeting them face to face two years ago. The joy that they exude is contagious. Now I regularly write to them with questions or ideas and they always respond with the most amazing suggestions.
The recipes they develop are simply the best in Gluten Free and their flour blend recipe's are the only ones I will use. So, if you are not the type of person that wants to take the time to mix your own blend then I say please, please help them with this venture! Just look at all the perks for doing so.
One last thing here...you have a chance to be a part of something really big, after all they did win the 2014 James Beard Award for their Gluten Free Girl & the Chef Everyday cookbook!
Thank you for considering to help them. Your help means a lot to me as I will think of it as you saying thank you to them for changing my life!
