Buttery, flaky croissant dough (hear the crunch!), mascarpone mousse, and Bare-Knuckle Espresso-laced whipped cream topped with dark, dark cocoa powder
Who’s the hero here — the French or the Italians? 🇫🇷 🇮🇹

Our family paid a visit to one of the homesteadcreamery dairy farms today along with our Lynchburg General Manager, Nathan, and his family. Located in a predictably lovely bucolic setting about an hour’s drive southwest of Lynchburg, these family farms are committed to taking the very best care of their cows and producing the finest milk possible.
We gave the cows appreciative scratches on their heads and thanked them for the top-notch milk they send our way every week. There’s something very special about knowing the farmers and animals who produce the milk we serve to our customers.
When you see the old-fashioned glass milk jugs from Homestead on our bar, we hope it strikes a chord that can only be struck by recognizing true quality and bonafide relationships with other local family-owned businesses. 🐄
Just a few lonely drinks waiting for you in Lynchburg. Soon, though — soon. 🕰️
Our West End Cafe is open with normal hours today. We’re here to supply you with warm and comforting beverages and pastries. Most roads are in good shape, so come see us if you need something wonderful.

Introducing “The Hot Chocolate Bun”
Luxurious chocolate brioche bun with a dark chocolate & Bare-Knuckle Espresso filling, frosted with dark chocolate ganache and garnished with house-made vanilla bean marshmallows
There’s nothing anywhere quite like “The Hygge.”
It’s a wintertime drink experience unlike any other. Bare-Knuckle Espresso, Richlands Dairy & Creamery local whole milk (or milk alternative), house-made caramelized spruce syrup using spruce tips hand-harvested from the Rocky Mountains, and garnished with a nostalgic Danish butter cookie — all smoked with pecan hardwood while you watch (12 or 16 oz. hot, 16 or 24 oz. iced)
Introducing “Veruca on the Shelf”
This is our unique take on a better-known tradition. Why a Veruca Salt action figure from “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory,”, you ask?
Veruca and her outlook on life have become iconic for us because we see her in the (relatively) occasional customer who thinks it’s okay to mistreat our staff. So we have fun and laugh about it internally since laughter is a better remedy than despair. It keeps us sane and joyful despite the childish Veruca-like behavior of a few. 99% of our customers are absolutely delightful. But if this bit of fun and coping with Verucas offends you, you are probably a Veruca. 🤷♂️
So, our in-house Veruca will be making the rounds at the Shockoe Bottom café all month. She’ll be popping up all over, so make sure you’re on the lookout for her every time you come in. 💜
