One small step for man, one giant step for Red's Pizza 🍕! We have finally been issued the ever elusive Certificate of Occupancy from Richland, Georgia and have it in hand, ready to post in a conspicuous place on the wall.

I am proud to say that after literally weeks of work, appointments, contractors, spending tons of monopoly money, and inspection after inspection, we are now one step closer to the mother goal of re-opening the new, same as before, Red's Pizza. This certificate of Occupancy was issued after passing the fire supression system inspection, the general overall fire inspection, and the Life Safety inspection all by several different inspectors, over several different dates. The point is we did it, and we are darn happy about it!

The next step is I am forwarding this document immediately to the Stewart County Food and Health inspector to have her complete her file and let her do her thing to bring us even closer to Stewart County issuing us the license to open.

I will continue pushing and keeping you posted on the other steps left to be where we all want to be soon: eating some good 'ole Red's Pizza 🍕 or burgers 🍔 again.

By the way, please like and follow this page and pass the word for others near and far to do the same. It helps get the word out and confirm or dispel rumors.

Getting Red's Pizza 🍕 open has proven to be a marathon rather than a sprint 🏃‍♀️. While we are all focused on the end goal of opening, we have to celebrate the mini milestones that it is taking to get us there.

Yesterday, was one of them, yipee! We passed the inspection of the fire 🔥 suppression system when the fire supression system inspector came back here and placed a "blue tag" on the new system. That doesn't mean we passed the fire inspection to open yet, just a subset of the fire inspection process. The contract fire inspector from Montezuma, GA has to still come back out and see the tag, and the multiple quantities of other things he required us to do, to give his blessings. That will be hopefully soon.

On a personal note, the beef I had with this whole process and requirements so far is that we are the guinea pigs, the 1st business in Richland that has to undergo all these 4 types of inspections: fire, life and safety, certificate of occupancy, and fire suppression inspection just to reopen and make pizza 🍕. I would kind of understand if Red's or any other establishments had to undergo any of these in the past, but it NEVER happened. Red's never had a life and safety, certificate of occupancy, fire, or fire supression system inspection ever, since it's inception. I complained, questioned, but in the end I had a choice: suck it up and pay the countless dollars, spend the countless days working on Red's since 9 December, 2024, and pass all the inspections or simply give up, and not open. I chose the former and to persevere, push through and continue pushing until we can and will open.

Today, Wayne's electric is back out here installing the wired smoke detection system and making a plan to rewire the entire building, including the panel box, to make it right. Just another step.

The bottom line is we are putting all out efforts to get Red's up and running again. Yesterday instalation of a new hood fire supression system and inspection and today with Wayne's electric, just brings us one step closer. I just want to keep you all updated. Thank you sincerely for your patience so far. I only promise that Red's reopening will have been well worth the wait.

Electrical contractors, Wayne's Electric, from Americus installing illuminated exit signs, rewiring junction boxes, redoing the panel box, and an assortment of other electrical requirements. It's a multi day project, but these guys are great at what they do

It's another cold day but perfect to give an update on the progress towards opening our beloved ❤️ Red's Pizza.

The county health and food inspector, Kimberly, came by last week to do the initial " pre-opening"inspection and we passed! I was so happy 😊.

However, the green light to open and to give us the license was subject to two additional inspections that had never been done before at Red's: a fire 🔥 safety inspection and certificate of occupancy inspection. We are the 1st business in Richland, besides a church, to have to pass both. Both inspectors are contract inspectors out of Montezuma, Georgia because Richland doesn't have any in-house inspectors. They came last week, right before the storm, and gave an extensive list of requirements that need to be done before being able to give the OK to Kimberly to allow us to open. While the list is long, I am doing everything possible to complete it to get the building reinpected. It requires electrical contractors and handymen to coordinate and get 'er done.

Bottom line, still no firm estimated opening day, and weather hasn't helped much. It the back of my mind, I am hoping for the latest 15 February.

I just wanted to give a sincere thank you to everyone who has ever supported or ate at Red's Pizza here in Richland at 1238 Wall Street and give an update on our beloved pizza shop in town. Red's Pizza, version 2.0, will be opening real soon, or as soon as actually humanly possible.
It was honestly my fault that I miscalculated the time it would take to reopen after the ownership changeover thinking I can re-open almost the next day. I found out that Red's Pizza is treated like a new business. I have to go through all the inspections like fire, electrical, occupancy, food, structure as if it were being built from scratch. It just is taking more time than I had anticipated. Nevertheless, I will work through it and open as soon as I get the OK. Just don't have a firm date yet.
I wanted to share the new Red's Pizza Page: www.facebook.com/iloveredspizza where I will keep and post updates of the progress. Please Like, post on, and share the new page and help spread the word as we move towards the grand reopening.
I plan to reopen the same Red's Pizza, with the same service, menu, quality, and smiles as before because I have a philosophy of, "don't fix something that ain't broken." However, I will be making some changes to hopefully improve in any way I can, based on your feedback. But the will not all happen right away. I want to give a teaser of what's to come. Red's will be accepting credit cards, have a POS system to automate orders and payments, enhanced menu options, and am thinking actually about doing deliveries. Plans for down the pike include a website with online ordering and anything else that may make your future experience the best it can be.
What I really would like and will ask is for your advise, comments, feedback, and input on how the newly relaunched Red's Pizza can be better than ever. Please comment below or send me an inbox. Btw, the Red's Pizza phone number is the same, 229.887.2417, BUT you can send me texts to the same number via WhatsApp. I look forward to hearing and responding to ALL you suggestions, good or bad, on really how to make the future Red's Pizza your all time fav Pizza place.
