This is great news for our local restaurants and itβs only going to be better. Letβs go!
π½οΈ BIG WIN FOR SHASTA COUNTY RESTAURANTS! FIRST MAJOR STEP FOR THE SHASTA COUNTY RESTAURANT COALITION | SHASTA COUNTY CHAMBER! π
REDDING, CA β The Shasta County Restaurant Coalition (SCRC), an initiative of the Shasta County Chamber, is already making progress toward helping local restaurants and food service businesses succeed!
The coalition was formed with one clear mission: Make it easier to open, operate, and grow a restaurant or food-related business in Redding and throughout Shasta County.
Anyone who has opened or operated a restaurant knows that navigating government permits, licensing requirements, inspections, fees, and regulations can be challenging.
We're working to change that through cooperation, communication, education, and transparency!
ποΈ OUR FIRST BIG STEP FORWARD!
Today, Shasta County Board of Supervisors Chair Kelstrom brought an item before the Board requesting information about fees charged during the permitting process and changes the county has implemented to improve transparency and make the process easier to navigate.
This is an important first step toward understanding the challenges facing local food businesses and identifying opportunities to streamline the process.
Our goal isn't to work against government agencies. It's to bring everyone to the same table and work together toward practical solutions.
π€ WHAT'S NEXT FOR SHASTA COUNTY RESTAURANTS?
The Shasta County Restaurant Coalition is working to build relationships with city, county, and state agencies to provide restaurant owners, food entrepreneurs, and hospitality businesses with better access to information, resources, and support.
π
Beginning January 2027, we plan to launch monthly educational workshops featuring representatives from government agencies and other organizations.
These workshops will focus on helping local businesses better understand:
β
Restaurant permits, licenses, and inspections
β
County and city fees and requirements
β
Food safety and public health regulations
β
Opening and expanding a food service business
β
Available business resources and training
β
Opportunities to improve communication and streamline government processes
Whether you own a restaurant in Redding, Anderson, Shasta Lake, Burney, Cottonwood, or another Shasta County community, this coalition is being built with YOU in mind!
β€οΈ THANK YOU, SHASTA COUNTY!
We appreciate Shasta County Resource Management, Shasta County Public Health, and the Shasta County Board of Supervisors for their willingness to engage in these important conversations.
We're looking forward to working with local municipalities, county departments, state agencies, and the business community to create an environment where local food businesses have the tools and information they need to succeed.
A RISING TIDE LIFTS ALL BOATS! π’
When our local restaurants succeed, our employees, families, neighborhoods, and communities benefit too!
