Support the arts! Visit the studios on the Countryside Artisans Fall Tour: October 2-4, 10-5!

The Countryside Artisans of Maryland represents a selected group of accomplished visual, sculptural, and textile artists working in oil, pastel, watercolor, pencil, ceramics, porcelain, glass, enamel, stone, wood, yarn, textiles, photography, tea, hops and grapes. The Countryside Artisans jointly open their galleries and studios located in historic, rural Montgomery, Howard and Frederick Counties for three art tours each year in April, October and December: The tour is self-guided, in which customers visit with artists in their studios, learn about the process of making art, and hopefully, make many purchases.

About the Artist:
Jenny Wilson is a multidisciplinary artist working across painting, music, and design. Born in New York City, she attended the High School of Art and Design and studied dance at the Alvin Ailey School. She holds a Master of Music in Jazz Pedagogy and has worked as a musician, recording artist, and designer.

Painting became a central focus of her practice during the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, her work has been exhibited throughout the DMV in juried exhibitions, group shows, and solo presentations. Her award-winning paintings are held in private collections across the U.S. and internationally.

About “Into the Light”:
The exhibition explores the interplay of light and shadow and humanity’s spiritual relationship with the natural world. Working primarily in acrylic, Wilson builds layers of color and form through an intuitive, improvisational process influenced by her musical background. Ideas from jazz, including rhythm, harmony, and tension and release, find visual expression in her paintings.

The exhibition is the 27th Riverworks “Artist in the House” exhibition, presented at the historic Veirs-Stevens House at Locals Farm Market.

We hope to see you at the gallery!
