I wanted bourbon.
I’m not going to try to lie about it.
I wanted bourbon in my morning coffee, in my Yeti, and in my peaches.

Alas, no bourbon.

So I settled for these Praline Peaches & Cream pancakes:

Sweet Georgia peaches, reduced down with fine brown sugar and praline syrup.

I dumped them on a pancake stack and added a generous amount of creme de whipped and a little fresh mint.

This weekend I was asked to make “boujee” deviled eggs.
Uhhh, what?
I don’t even know what that means.
Here’s what I did instead:

I took fresh eggs laid by our personal backyard chicken flock, and hard boiled perfectly until the yolks were light and fluffy.

Then I peeled and scalped the tops of them off instead of cutting them in half like you would typically see at your 80s office party.

Using a tiny spoon I hollowed out the yolks- mixed them with roasted red peppers, shallots, goats cheese, Greek yogurt, lime juice, and fresh dill.

I piped the mixture back into the egg whites before topping with a dusting of paprika and fresh micro greens.

Served in egg cartons which worked perfectly for easy transport.

Are these “boujee”?
I have no idea.
We’re they tasty?

Gloomy Sundays call for a colorful breakfast.

Fun-fetti pancakes made with cake batter, vanilla bean, and a touch of nutmeg- and of course a ton of rainbow sprinkles.

Testing homemade ramen noodle recipes in the kitchen today:

Had to remove a molecule of carbon from soda bicarbonate to increase the alkalinity, Jack up the protein levels and monitor moisture.

All in all about a two hour process for 3 servings. 😀
…But they turned out great.

Now to streamline the process, and make it able to be duplicated easily by someone other than me.

Everything’s better on a stick.

Chicken Satay:
Seasoned, skewered, and grilled- thin ribbons of chicken are then brushed with a Thai chili sauce and topped with a pineapple and roasted red pepper salsa.
I put it over a bed of micro-chopped dressed greens and swaddled it in cozy warm grilled naan.

It’s like putting on a sweater fresh out of the dryer, and then realizing sweaters don’t go in dryers- but how would you know that?? You’ve always had someone else do your laundry! Why would anyone make clothes that you CAN’T put in the dryer anyway?? So now you’re just strutting around in this tiny sweater with your belly hanging out of the bottom because you’re too proud to admit that as a grown ass man you still don’t know how to do laundry and your co-workers are relentless about it, I mean, come on Jerry, that’s probably not even your real hair, get off my back!
I mean, hypothetically speaking….
*nervous laughter* 😬

Remember that hack saw I had in the kitchen?? Yeah. I was trying to separate legs and shanks so I could make this:

Pork Osso Buco:
Slow braised pork shank in sherry with carrots, onions, and celery.
Gently placed while falling off the bone atop fluffy roasted garlic smashed potatoes.

Gotta suck the marrow out those bones

B3 Juicy Lucy (Bison, Bacon, Blue Cheese):

I took six ounces of ground bison, made a “meat pocket”, and stuffed it with Gorgonzola, and bacon.

I topped it with white American cheese, and my sweet onion chutney.

It’s on a corn dusted Kaiser with lettuce and tomato.

Salty burger, bitey blue cheese, and sweet chutney- all in it to win it for Team Tastebuds.

Let’s do breakfast in bed this morning with a few chicken and waffles breakfast sammies.

Buttermilk fried chicken, Smokey bacon, lettuce, tomato, mayo, and a drippy fried egg on top- pressed between two grilled waffles.

I don’t know about you but I’m drizzling these with hot sauce and maybe a little maple syrup.
