We are able to do what we do thanks to the many local businesses and organizations that support the Food Truck Friday Series each year! Thank you to these sponsors for helping make it happen. Join us this Friday for our celebration of the USA's 250th! 🇺🇸

🥔 And now... back to our regularly scheduled potato programming!

I'm so excited to be heading back to Milford Food Truck Night this Friday from 5:00–8:00 PM!

This was one of the very first Food Truck Nights I ever joined when Rooted Spud first launched, and after taking a season away, I'm thrilled to be back. The folks at the Milford Food Bank and the Milford Community Center have always been wonderful to work with, and I can't wait to see everyone again.

Then we'll be right back at the The Farmers Market at Winona on Saturday from 8:00 AM–1:00 PM, serving up your favorite loaded potatoes, salads, rainbow lemonades, and gluten-free goodness.

It's going to be a great weekend. Come hungry, bring your friends, and as always...

🌱 Stay Rooted.

I'd like to correct the record because my business reputation matters.

Rooted Spud did not "no-call, no-show." at Burke's Repo Outlet Bike Night. The public record speaks for itself. My communication was public, timely, and documented, with multiple posts leading up to the event discussing the extreme heat, the possibility of cancellation, and ultimately the cancellation itself. I discussed the heat with the manager the day before, and again the morning of.

There is also important context that has been left out. I accepted this booking only a few days before the event after a manager contacted me because they still did not have a food vendor booked. Just days before a holiday weekend and their own event. During that initial conversation, I made it clear that an extreme heat wave was forecast and reminded him that my truck cannot safely operate in those conditions.

That was discussed from the very beginning—it was never a surprise.

I remained in communication throughout the process and made the difficult decision to cancel only when the conditions became unsafe. Characterizing that as a "no-call, no-show" is demonstrably false.

I understand people were disappointed, and I hate disappointing customers. But I will not accept responsibility for circumstances that were communicated from the outset or allow false statements about my professionalism to go unanswered.

My reputation has been built over four seasons on honesty, communication, and reliability. The documented timeline speaks for itself. As for the owner deciding to present an inaccurate timeline and attacking my business and professionalism? Well around here we prefer to 🌿

Friends, I hate having to make this call, but my body has made it for me. As many of you are aware the Rooted Spud was built to accommodate my health limitations. This excessive heat is too much for me.

After pushing through lunch today, I'm still not well enough to safely work another shift in this heat. Rooted Spud will remain closed for dinner tonight.

I'm truly sorry to everyone who was planning to come out. I am completely broken hearted over this. Thank you for your understanding, and thank you for always supporting this little business. ❤️

We did everything we could to make today work, but it's time to call it. My kids and I have come off the truck because it's simply too hot to continue safely.
This thermometer is at the very back of the truck, as far away from the cooking equipment as it can be, and it's reading around 125°F. That's not from the grill—it's the ambient temperature inside the truck.
Thank you to everyone who came out today and for understanding. We'd rather disappoint you for an afternoon than put anyone's health at risk. Stay hydrated, and we'll see you soon. The plan as of now is to open again for dinner. ❤️
