There's a reason ginger ends up in almost every tea tradition on earth, sooner or later.
It's not subtle. It doesn't need convincing. One steep and you know exactly what it's there to do — warm you up, wake up your senses, and cut through whatever the day handed you.
We use a lot of ginger root at Pure & Easy Tea. It's in Signature Chai, doing the heavy lifting alongside cinnamon and cardamom. It's in Soothe, working quietly in the background of a caffeine-free blend built for the colder months. And it's been used this way — as medicine, as spice, as ritual — for longer than most of the ingredients we consider "ancient."
So this week, we're doing something a little different: a full deep-dive into one botanical. Where ginger actually comes from. What's really inside it. What the research says — and, just as importantly, what it doesn't say yet. And how to brew it so it tastes the way it's supposed to.
This is the first in a series we're calling The Ingredient Standard — one botanical at a time, no shortcuts, no vague claims. Just the plant, and everything worth knowing about it.
