In the spirit of Women's History Month, we shine the spotlight on a remarkable entrepreneur whose journey epitomizes the strength and tenacity of women in business. Meet Becky Jones, the force behind YaYa’s She Shed, an online boutique that has weathered the storms of life and emerged as a beacon of creativity and inspiration.
For nearly four decades, Becky has been a dynamo in direct sales and crafts, dedicating 24 years to a successful career with Home Interiors and Gifts before the company unexpectedly closed its doors. Facing an uncertain future, Becky's resilience was put to the test as she navigated the choppy waters of the business world, experiencing the highs and lows that come with entrepreneurship.
Despite setbacks, including joining a purse company that would also close down unexpectedly, Becky learned a valuable lesson—the importance of not putting all her eggs in one basket. This realization led her to diversify her offerings and eventually rebrand as YaYa’s She Shed.
Today, YaYa’s She Shed is known for its super soft leggings and an array of "Specials" that keep customers intrigued. But Becky's true passion lies in crafting, and she dreams of transforming her business into a handmade boutique—a testament to her lifelong love of making things with her own two hands.
Becky's journey hasn't been without its challenges, from struggling to stay afloat during tough times to figuring out which products will resonate with her customers. Yet, through personal development and trusting her gut instincts, she has persevered, even celebrating her biggest year in business since her tenure at Home Interiors.
Living a sober life for nearly four years, Becky has found strength and clarity that have contributed to her business's success. She's a dedicated grandmother and wife, supporting her husband, a retired Navy serviceman now working for American Airlines, and running YaYa’s She Shed in her spare moments.
Her advice to other entrepreneurs? "Do something for it daily," she says, and "be proud when asked what you do." Becky owns her identity as an online boutique owner with pride.
Beyond her commitment to daily business growth, Becky harbors a grand vision. She dreams of opening a boutique in Cape May, offering not just fashionable items but also a space for health and wellness with protein shakes, similar to a "healthy Cracker Barrel." The dream includes a retreat center for crafting, teaching, and rehabilitation—a sanctuary for those needing to recharge, with special consideration for single mothers and women seeking a respite.
This year, YaYa’s She Shed is expanding its inventory to include handmade hair accessories and earrings, signaling the beginning of the boutique's transformation towards handcrafted goods.
Becky Jones's story is one of unyielding spirit and entrepreneurial acumen. YaYa’s She Shed stands as a symbol of what women can accomplish with determination, creativity, and a heart full of dreams. As we celebrate women's contributions to history, let's also applaud those shaping our present and future—women like Becky, who turn challenges into triumphs and dreams into reality.
This article celebrates Becky's journey and YaYa’s She Shed as an embodiment of women's resilience and success in the business world.
