I’m so excited to finally be hosting my first get together at my home with fellow Puerto Rican women and girls.
This is more than just a dinner at my home. My hope is that this group helps us Boricuas build genuine friendships, community, and sisterhood.
For a very long time, I’ve wanted to be around other Puerto Ricans outside of work settings. One thing many people may not know about me is that not speaking Spanish fluently has affected me deeply almost my entire life. It’s something that has contributed to my depression and anxiety because sometimes I feel disconnected from a part of myself and my culture that I love so much.
I want to grow in the language, have conversations freely, make mistakes without embarrassment, and be around women who will lovingly correct me instead of judging me. I know I’m not the only Boricua who has felt this way.
So this night is about more than food and cafecito. It’s about connection, culture, healing, laughter, stories, music, memories, and feeling at home with people who understand you.
This is so important for the younger generations and I'm glad I can contribute to making a change even if its just a small difference. ♥️🇵🇷
Look at the cute decor I got from Amazon 😍🥰
Can't wait to cook, dance, laugh and learn with you ladies♥️
