Good morning Familia♥️
Not too long ago, BORI was invited to be part of a mutual aid event in Baltimore organized by the NEYL New Era Young Lords Maryland... Natasha Muniz along with one of my amazing supporters David Lamboy Martinez had recently stopped by my pop-up at Bread and Butter Kitchen in Annapolis. Shortly after, they reached out to me about possibly donating or volunteering for one of their community events.
Yesterday was the day of that event and Christopher Williams and I made the trip out to Baltimore with a large bag of toys that had originally been donated to me by the Mateo family. The bag has been sitting in my garage for a few weeks, and I knew this was exactly where they were meant to go. ❤️
Seeing the children’s faces when we opened that bag was everything. I handed out toys to some of the girls, Chris gave toys to some of the boys, and they were just so excited and grateful. 🥹
The event offered FREE food, clothing, toys, canned goods and other resources for people in the community who needed them. There were many people who donated and volunteered, and there was actually some food and items left over at the end. That made me realize how important it is that we NEED TO SPREAD THE WORD. There are people who could truly use these resources, and we want to make sure they know these events are happening.
I was told they host these mutual aid events once a month, and once I receive the information for the next one, I’ll be sharing it with my BORI family. I would LOVE to see some of you there beside me...whether you want to volunteer, donate food, clothes, toys, canned goods, or simply help us get the word out. You can see first hand where your contributions go to. Seeing the families walk away and go home with the toys we dropped off really warmed my heart.
If my schedule allows, I plan on being at the next one serving some hot food, BORI style ❤️🇵🇷 and maybe bringing something special for the kids too.
The more of us who come together, the more people we can help. I’ve always wanted to use this platform for more than just selling food. If we have the ability to give back, even in a small way, we will!
