Hi I’m Evelin i am Ghanaian Greek Polish and apparently people still have a problem with that! Don’t let anyone tell you who you are and always remember you have a community just like you out here 🖤

You asked why I’m shocked by the racist comments, so let me actually answer you, because the answer says a lot about how race works differently across the world 🖤

I’m mixed race. Ghanaian , Greek and Polish. And I grew up in Greece in the 90s as basically the only Black kid everywhere I went. Here in America, racism is loud and it’s known. The Black Americans I’ve met grew up carrying this country’s history in their bones, the violence, the killings, the feeling that the system is built against them. They were raised ready for it.

I wasn’t. Where I grew up, it was never that overt. It lived in looks, in comments, in the quiet everyday stuff, not always something everyone openly named. So when I open my phone now and see Greek people sending me this level of hate, it genuinely shocks me, because it’s not the racism I lived in person all those years and of course thats also because my family was white, i am sure that if we were all black we would have had a completely different conversation now, but thats my reality!

And one thing I love about my life here is that for the first time I have a community that actually understands what I’m carrying.

Racism exists everywhere. It just doesn’t wear the same face everywhere. I’m always happy to share what it was like being Black in a white European country, i am pretty sure i have experiences that you never imagined. 🙋🏾‍♀️

Hey i’m Evelyn I moved to the USA in 2024 with just $2,000 in my pocket.

I got a waitress, worked long hours, saved over $100,000 in a year, then i got married, left my waitress job, and started my own business which is already generating six figures.

Before someone says, “That’s because you live in New York,” I know people much younger than me in small towns across America who are building successful businesses and making millions.

That’s the difference.

The United States offers opportunities at a scale that many countries simply don’t. As someone who came from Greece and has seen how difficult it can be to build wealth from nothing in parts of Europe and the Balkans, I don’t think many people realize how powerful the opportunities here are.

If you’re ambitious, willing to work hard, learn new skills, take risks, and stay consistent, America gives you access to resources, education, technology, networking, and business opportunities that can completely change your life.

It doesn’t matter if you’re an immigrant, a woman, Black, white, or where you started. Success isn’t guaranteed, but the opportunity to create it is real.
The uncomfortable truth is that millions of people around the world would do anything to have access to the opportunities that many Americans see every day.

Be grateful for what you have. If you’re unhappy, build something better. Move somewhere else. Create the life you want.
But don’t take opportunity for granted when it’s something other people dream about every single day. 🙋🏾‍♀️🤍
