I’ve been known to do some “stealth seeding” of wildflower pollinator mixes on construction projects on public land.

I’ve never had much luck before but finally got some going from a patch that were seeded a couple years ago.

For all of you “makers“ out there for Nebraska beekeeper Association is putting on a makers symposium on July 18 in Kearney.

There are lots of fun sessions where you will make and take things home.

I’ll be teaching a session on sourdough bread making where we’ll make a loaf of sourdough that you’ll take home to bake (you’ll also take home your own sourdough starter!)

I’ll also teach another session on Mead making where you will start a gallon of one of my favorite mead recipes in class and you will finish it at home.

If you want to learn about Bees, the guest speaker will be Bob Binnie, who is one of the most knowledgeable people in the world about beekeeping.

All of the sessions can be signed up for independently. So come for one or come for all!!

Growing up in western Nebraska “Kraut Burgers” or “Cabbage Burgers” were a common menu item. I don’t really know if Mom put sauerkraut in ours or not. I suspect she called them Cabbage Burgers as she knew we’d turn out noses up at kraut. Basically they are a lot like a Runza with more cabbage in the filling.

Made my sourdough version of these tonight and they really turned out nicely!!

A new chapter awaits for the pizza trailer as it drove off into the sunset last night. It is now owned by the Omaha Running Club who will use it to transport gear to local races which they support. I was told that they have over one ton of orange traffic cones to set up for some races!!

They are a wonderful organization and always in need of volunteers for races so please reach out to them if you are looking for things to volunteer for.

I left the pizza picture on the back. Not sure if they’ll want to keep that or not. 😃

One of my missions from retiring the Pizza business was to get more projects completed.

This walnut mantle finally made it up onto the wall this weekend and I’m pretty happy with it. It was almost 3 years in the making, but a lot of that was trying to get the wood dried.

Special thanks to Meghan and Austan who had the bigger tools to work on things that I could not.
