I've been in the home building and remodeling business doing carpentry work since 1999 and got my electrical license in 2005. I started my business in 2009 and I do all types of residential remodeling, finished basements, kitchen remodels and bathroom remodels. I am the general contractor for all my projects and in addition to handling all the carpentry work myself i.e. I have a solid collection of sub-contractors to handle anything that Hix Home Remodeling doesn't do. So, I am always fully involved in the entire project from beginning to end.

We finished this basement in Naperville this week. It’s about 1,000 sq ft with sprayed out black ceilings, a nice sitting area with 85” tv, a play room and a future dry bar. Also butcher block tops going on the half walls in the next few weeks.

The best thing you can do as a carpenter is make sure your cuts are so tight that it looks like one piece of lumber is growing out of the other.

We completely removed a bay window today at our next first floor remodel in Naperville. This is just a small part of expanding the existing kitchen into the dining room to make one huge kitchen. The new 75” window comes next week and will be installed then. This one is going to be awesome. To be continued. Jax Designs

We finished up this bathroom down in Mazon a few weeks ago. We removed the tub completely, rebuilt the shower to a larger size, relocated one of the vanities, added more storage with floating shelves and all new everything else. Shower glass went in a couple days later. Jax Designs

We wrapped up this kitchen a few weeks ago in Naperville. It was more of a kitchen and dinette that pretty much got reconfigured into one long kitchen. We added a coffee bar, a butler’s station with a beverage center and removed the peninsula and replaced that with a new island. We removed the old painted false beams, replaced them with maple and stained to match the island and hood cabinet. We also refaced the fireplace with drywall and tile and built a custom maple mantle to match the new stained wood work as well. Refinished all the hardwood floors throughout and all new everything else. Jax Designs

We finished up this master bathroom remodel in Naperville today. This was basically a cosmetic overhaul to update everything. We moved around and added some lighting but for the most part the footprint stayed the same. And it turned out awesome. Jax Designs

We completed this kitchen and first-floor renovation in Naperville today. Essentially, it was a full cosmetic upgrade throughout, with lighter refinished floors, custom built-in bookcases with bench seating and drawers below, an updated fireplace with a quartz surround, new handrails, newel posts, and iron spindles on the staircase, new updated trim and all new everything else. Stair case we finished today at a first floor remodel we’re working on in Naperville. This part was challenging and fun. More pics of the rest of the house to come.

Quick mudroom, powder room we wrapped up a couple of weeks ago. In the mudroom we did a stacked washer and dryer to add a utility sink, removed the coat closet and installed a more organized cabinetry system. Also new lighting and tile. In the mudroom, a new vanity, new lighting layout and new tile from counter to ceiling. We also replaced the front door.
