I have a lot of “church ladies” in my heritage, so I’ve always been a big fan of church cookbooks. I am also aware that the business of church cookbooks can be a blood sport. Case in point – one year my Grandma Jessie put her recipe for “drop dumplings” in the church cookbook. Years later, she was a...

I have two goals when I entertain: I want my friends to think I’m a great cook, and I don’t want to do a lot of work. This can sometimes be challenging.

I know I posted chili last week, but in my opinion you can never have too many chili recipes. And here's one that's just a little bit different. http://tsrecipes.com/?p=2859

I got to thinking about chili the other day, because it was cold outside and a nice hot bowl of chili sounded like just what we needed to warm up. Then I thought, “Hmmm … I think chili came from Texas or Mexico or someplace warm, so it did not start out as a warmer upper.” So I started poking aroun...

My friend and colleague, Sara Gronholz, has been a guest blogger numerous times. She is truly a gourmet cook. I admire her ability to be inspired by nearly everything she tries, anywhere, and then “Tastefully Simplize” it. Her most recent concoction was for an absolutely delicious Cinnamon Bread. In...

A while back, my daughter was studying the Amazon rainforest. She had learned of some of the concerns there, and one morning, while rinsing out her cereal bowl, she began to tell me how she intended to save the rainforest from environmental devastation. Just 13 gallons of water later, she dropped h...

Well friends, I don't plan to be such an over-achiever, it just happens. I was going to post the plain pancakes but I couldn't resist dressing them up for you. I used a mixing cup with a spout to pour out the heart shape then spread peanut butter on some and cream cheese on others. I topped them with Tastefully Simple's Tripleberry Fruit Spread. You could use yogurt, whipped cream and/or whatever jam is in your fridge. Get creative and show some love to your family tonight for dinner. They'll love it (mine did at lunch) and you'll love saving time & money on a trip to a restaurant tonight.

Look for some pictures of Heart Shaped Pancakes a little later today. They'd be great for a sweet dinner tonight.
