Small business owner.

is a pretty phenomenal guy. Anyone that knows him knows he has such a kind heart and dedicated work ethic. In June of 2021, he was able to quit his day job and start roasting for and full time!
Anyways, I thought it was about time we gave a shoutout to one of the creators of Enneagram Coffee. Michael is a complete expert in the area of coffee roasting and coffee equipment but quietly and unassumingly goes about his days. Don’t be fooled by his calm presence, he’s running all operations for our business like a BOSS.

Spent a busy morning sipping on this type 8 enneagram roast as I worked. Between phone calls and emails, I found myself reflecting on the type 8s in my life and appreciating their hustle and drive, as well as their heart. There’s nothing I enjoy more than being assigned a project with an 8. I know we’ll get it done and I know they’ll have my back. Thank you, 8s, for your passion and also for the way you care so intensely for the people in your lives.
Here’s some info on our type 8 roast:
You will immediately notice this Colombian coffee’s big energetic and intense chocolate notes out front and kicking down doors. What you may miss entirely are the lighter and more vulnerable hints of fresh fruit that then step through, because this roast likes to hide them behind its bold and relentless exterior. Flavor Notes: Chocolate, Fresh Fruit, Bold, Full, Syrupy.

I made a pour over of our type 7 roast this morning and then as I sipped this coffee, I made a list of all the things I love to do that I have not prioritized lately. This act of taking inventory of what brings me joy, then making plans to pursue them was the best way I could think of to honor the 7s in my life.
Here’s to you, 7s🥂 here’s to being inspired to live my best life, to plan adventures, to do something unordinary with my time.
Here’s some info about our type 7 roast: This Kenyan/Brazilian Blend is a consummate dilettante, a burst of bright and rich flavors. The electric citric energy and fruity spontaneity of the Kenyan are invigorating, while the naturally processed Brazilian brings the practical resilience and delightfully grounded chocolate and nutty notes to your cup. Flavor Notes: Tropical Fruit, Nutty, Caramel, Bright.

This afternoon, I poured myself a cup of our type 6 roast and reflected. I reflected on the type 6s in my life that have shown up so consistently and have quietly met practical needs all the while being pretty funny/self-deprecating about it all. They have defended me fiercely and have had my back. They have continued to take care of our community when others had run out of steam. I hope you have a type 6 in your life too because you’ll never find someone that has your back quite like them. What a good reminder for all the rest of us to keep showing up for them.
Here’s some info about our type 6 roast: This Peruvian roast is deliciously complex. On the one hand, it’s supportively sweet with a smooth and creamy mouthfeel, but it can have the tartness of grapefruit and evasiveness of eucalyptus as well. Though this roast can be acidic, the soft and peaceful flavors of toffee and chocolate are there below the surface; they are just harder to find at first.

I (Michael) tell people all the time “if Jess wasn’t a part of this business, nobody would know who we are”.
She is the marketing guru, face behind the camera, and lone wolf designer for everything we do. She’s so dang impressive. As a 3w4 she’s especially good at presenting our business in all of it’s glory, while also showing vulnerability and authenticity that our community so desperately needs and wants. When a 3 can show you their warts, you know they’ve done the work. Myself, along with a host of our friends and acquaintances have a much deeper understanding of ourselves and the enneagram, simply because she’s taken the time to process with us.

She’s frugal to a fault. (I don’t think she has any socks without holes). She’s patient, a good listener, and one of the best leaders of people I’ve ever seen. She knows her limits, even if she needs help accepting them at times. Ambitious, tireless worker, efficiency aficionado, and incredible cook are only the start of this woman’s attributes.

The world is better for having her in it.

Michael Beans is a 🌿plant obsessed, ☕️ coffee loving, 👖craft clothing wearing, peace-seeking, purpose-making, gentle, kind, and genuine soul.

Michael pours his heart into our small business and into his craft of roasting coffee through his dedication to sourcing from quality farms with ethical pay to farmers, meticulously roasting each coffee we source, unending research on equipment and to better his understanding of the coffee industry. And yet, he still shares his constant unease of not feeling like an expert at times, not trusting his own voice. The unrest in his soul is something he’s battled with most of his life - This yearning for something more and distrust of his own abilities at times. Which is why I think he needed a shoutout today. He is a phenomenal business owner and, if any of you have drank any of the coffee he has roasted, know that he is a genius at his craft. He doesn’t toot his own horn often and so deserves recognition for his quiet persistence of an intentional life dedicated to his craft. Thanks for being a great human being and for bringing goodness into the world through the coffee you roast and the person you are.
