Behind every corporate platter going out this week is a simple rule: treat a home bakery like a real business from day one.
To my local Essex County corporate clients and offices: holiday and meeting booking calendars are open for custom platters!
To my fellow cottage bakers in the comments: what is the one packaging item you wish you bought later instead of on day one? Let’s talk about it below 👇

Impressing clients starts the second they look at the conference table. 👩‍🍳🏡 Ditch the standard store-bought box for local, small-batch gourmet platters that show your team you actually plan ahead.

Milestone unlocked: The 8-foot banner has officially arrived. 📦✨

Building Bakes by Renata over the last three months has been all about prioritizing professional standards, licensing compliance, and local community roots.

Next stop: The Nutley Farmers Market on Sunday, Oct 25th. Come by the table, say hi, and grab an abundant platter for your weekend hosting.

Hospitality should feel like a deep breath, not a long checklist. 🛋️✨

When you invite friends, family, or clients over, the goal is to connect, catch up, and enjoy the company. But so often, the host spends the entire evening rushing around, cutting desserts, passing out plates, and managing the kitchen!

That’s exactly why I love the concept of taking the pressure out of hosting. When you order a custom dessert layout or a full premium platter from a small-batch home bakery, you get to cross a massive task off your list. The dessert table is completely taken care of, it looks beautiful, and you actually get to sit down and be a guest at your own party. 🥂💯

What is your absolute favorite shortcut or tip to save time when you’re prepping for a crowd? Let me know in the comments! 👇

The internet lies to you about how easy it is to get customers online. I posted consistently for 3 months and got exactly 0 orders from social media.

Instead, my growth came from old school, face-to-face networking at my local Chamber of Commerce. if you're struggling to get your local business off the ground, step away from the screen and get into your community. 🤎

A peek inside the kitchen for a massive party order! 🤯👩‍🍳✨
Today’s project was boxing up a custom dessert spread valued at $206.98. The lineup features a classic Vanilla Bundt cake alongside a whopping 8 dozen cookies!

I love when clients take advantage of custom small-batch baking. For the confetti cookies, the customer requested specific custom sprinkle colors to match their event theme, and they paired perfectly next to the Cinnamon Roll, Salted Caramel Pretzel, and classic Chocolate Chip. 🎨🥨

Catering large events from a licensed home kitchen takes a lot of organization, but seeing the final boxes stacked up and ready for pickup is the most rewarding feeling in the world. A huge thank you to my local community for supporting this dream! 🥂🍰

Walking into a room full of storefront owners who have been in business for decades when you're just baking out of your home kitchen is terrifying. Imposter syndrome is so real when you're starting out! But if I wanted a real business, I knew I had to push past the comfort zone of just selling to friends and family.

To anyone else baking from their kitchen wondering if they're "real enough", you are! Follow along to see how year one goes! Full YouTube video up now.

Let’s talk about the side of running a licensed home bakery that doesn't always make the aesthetic montage reels. 👩‍🍳💼
As a cottage food baker, the hustle is very real. While I love perfecting a soft, buttery crumb or hand-wrapping custom cookie platters from my kitchen, navigating the structural rules behind the scenes is a massive puzzle. Many states, including right here in New Jersey, cap a home food operator's annual revenue (not profit) at $50,000. 📑⚖️
That means growing a business requires creative pivoting, meticulous tracking, and looking toward digital paths or local markets to build a sustainable brand. It’s hard work, but feeding our community small-batch, homemade goods makes every single hurdle worth it. ❤️✨
I’d love to hear from other small business owners and dessert lovers: Do you think home business revenue limits need a major update? 👇

Baking for a cause close to home! ⚾🥎🍪 Today my cottage kitchen was filled with the smell of 48 fresh-baked cookies, and they are officially boxed up and headed out the door.
Tonight is the Lyndhurst Baseball & Softball Tricky Tray fundraiser, and I am so proud to donate a massive dessert basket to support our local youth leagues!
Community means everything to me, and there’s nothing better than using small-batch baking to give back to the neighborhoods that support us. Someone is going to win a seriously sweet prize table treat tonight! 🏆✨
🎟️ If you’re heading to the fundraiser tonight, make sure to look for my bakery basket and drop your tickets in!
