Our beans are ethically sourced from around the globe and roasted in Newark, New Jersey. Red House Roasters began in Weehawken in the summer of 2009. Garden State natives (and relative newlyweds) Richard Seidenberg and Stacey Feder were smitten with one another, and with the notion that if you build a business doing what you love, you can make a life to be proud of. Among their many shared interes
ts are travel, craftsmanship, a commitment to community and an appreciation of great food. Both had grandparents that were makers. A butcher in Newark; a seamstress and a tailor in the Bronx. Respect for craft was already in their DNA when they met for the first time at Doll’s Place in New Brunswick, and they fell in love like sugar loves cream. A trip to Costa Rica sealed their coffee destinies. Rick became enamored with the mastery of roasting — developing quality through trial and error, batch after batch of beans they imported themselves. More than a decade later, this approach to food science guides the business, and is influenced by a love of history, storytelling and Latin American culture. Today, Red House Roasters sources, imports and roasts the best coffee beans on the planet. As part of our continuing commitment to the craft, we are proud members of the Specialty Coffee Association of America, and we routinely participate and compete in events to showcase our coffees and share knowledge with other master roasters from around the world.
