A MESSAGE OF LOVE AND ENCOURAGEMENT

To the Greggs and Bynoes Families,

Grace and peace be unto you, beloved, in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

I come to you today with a heart full of love, gratitude, and sincere encouragement. You are not ordinary families — you are families chosen and fashioned by the hand of Almighty God, and the evidence of His grace is written upon your lives.

In this journey called life, there will be seasons of sunshine and seasons of shadow, moments of great joy and moments that test the very fabric of your faith. But take courage, for the Word of God declares in Psalm 46:1, "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble." He has not forgotten you. He has not forsaken you. He is ever watchful, ever faithful, and ever near.

I charge you — be kind to one another. Kindness is the language the deaf can hear, and the blind can see. Let generosity flow freely from your hearts, not only in material things, but in time, in patience, in forgiveness, and in love. A generous spirit opens doors that gold and silver cannot buy.

Stay strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. When the burdens feel heavy, lean not on your own understanding but cast your cares upon Him who cares for you. Strengthen each other — lift the fallen, encourage the weary, and celebrate one another's victories as your own.

Remember that family is one of God's greatest gifts. Guard it. Nurture it. Protect it with prayer. Commit your households daily to His keeping, and He who has begun a good work in you will carry it through to completion.

To the Greggs and to the Bynoes — I bless you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. May His favour rest upon your homes, may His peace guard your hearts, and may His glory shine through your lives for all generations to come.

Stay strong. Stay faithful. Stay united. God bless you richly.

With love and blessings,

Patriarch Godfrey Gregg, D.Div.

To My Grandchildren

Do you remember the story of the mango tree that shaded our yard? You sat beneath it and listened to tales of hard work, laughter, and faith. That tree taught patience and rootedness. Hold humility like soil for your roots; it keeps you grounded when winds of praise blow. Humility lets you learn from elders and be gentle with yourselves as you grow.
Humble hands, kind hearts, lasting love.
Let kindness be what others expect from you. Share your toys, include the shy child, help without being asked. When you see someone lonely on the playground, invite them into your game. Kindness becomes courage when you defend the weak and choose inclusion over cruelty.
Love boldly. Love your family, friends, and neighbors. Speak words that heal, give time that matters, and hug often. Learn family stories and pass them on; tell your children about where we came from and who stood when storms came. These stories are seeds that grow character.
A weekly practice: at family dinner, each grandchild shares one good thing and one thing they learned that week.
A short blessing to say aloud: “Grow humble, give kindly, love deeply.”
Quote to remember: “A gentle heart changes the world.”

To My Nephews and Nieces

Do you remember the afternoon you learned to ride a bike and kept getting up? That stubborn bravery paired with someone steadying the seat is the very spirit I pray you carry forward. Humility will keep you teachable and connected; it’s what lets you accept help without shame and give help without pride. When ambition grows, let humility direct it toward service rather than self-elevation.
Humble hands, kind hearts, lasting love.
Make kindness a visible habit. Pause before reacting online; choose help over sarcasm; lend time, not just money. Small acts matter: a supportive message before a test, helping a sibling with chores, defending someone being teased. These choices grow trust and open doors you cannot foresee.
Love courageously. Love means sometimes standing alone for what’s right, sometimes bowing to reconcile, sometimes staying in a relationship because it needs repair. Love your elders with respect; love your peers with loyalty. Use your gifts to serve family and community. Let your successes lift others: sponsor a younger cousin’s tuition, mentor a child, share a book that changed you.
A practical challenge: this week, write one encouraging note to a family member and share a favorite memory with at least one younger Gregg.
A simple blessing to recite before sleep: “May my feet walk humbly, my hands help freely, and my heart love fiercely.”
Quote to remember: “Character proves itself in small acts of kindness.”

To My Cousins
A one-week challenge: organize a cousins’ meet-up or virtual hangout and invite everyone to share a two-minute favourite family story.
Remember the summer we patched a leaky roof together and laughed until dusk? Those hands that climbed, tied knots, and passed nails are the same hands that can stitch us together now. You are both the bridge and the bridge-builders between generations. Humility keeps that bridge strong: it teaches you to step back so another can lead, to credit the team instead of claiming the win, and to remain teachable even when you lead.
Humble hands, kind hearts, lasting love.
Practice kindness like a daily habit. Notice the cousin who hasn’t spoken in a while; send a text. Show up with a casserole to a new parent. When conflicts arise, choose curiosity over judgment—ask “Tell me more” instead of offering verdicts. Forgiveness preserves energy for future building; grudges only weaken the foundation.
Love as a verb. Start traditions that invite participation: cousins-only service projects, storytelling nights, or a rotating potluck where each household brings a childhood recipe. Use your energy and influence to create spaces where young Greggs can learn practical skills, hear family stories, and exchange hopes. Your compassion will ripple outward.
A one-week challenge: organize a cousins’ meet-up or virtual hangout and invite everyone to share a two-minute favorite family story.
A two-line ritual to end gatherings: each person names one thing they’re grateful for in the family; all place a hand in the center and say, “We stand together.”
Quote to remember: “We build legacy with humble work and generous hearts.”
Be brave enough to lead with restraint and bold enough to love without condition. Your generation writes the next chapter—write it with service, warmth, and steady faith.

To My Aunts and Uncles

Remember the kitchen table where stories kept the house warm: laughter over simple dinners, quiet counsel over cups of tea, hands that mended and fed without asking for credit. That table taught us humility — not the absence of pride but the practice of placing others first. Humility softens a voice, opens an ear, and makes space for growth. When you step back, you give others room to rise; when you listen, you give truth a place to land.
Humble hands, kind hearts, lasting love.
Be intentional about kindness. A short call, a plate left on a doorstep, a name remembered on a birthday — these small acts compound into belonging. Let kindness be your daily currency: spend it freely, especially on those who seem to need it least. When you offer forgiveness quickly, you protect the family from long winters of resentment. When you celebrate quietly, you teach younger Greggs what true rejoicing looks like.
Love without tally. Love that cares for the lost, loves across distance, and remains faithful in ordinary moments is our strongest inheritance. Love is not always dramatic; most of the time it looks like presence — showing up at a funeral, sitting with a widow, visiting a sick child, or simply asking, “How are you, really?” These are the acts that shape character.
A short practice: each week choose one family name and send a message of appreciation or a memory.
A brief blessing to speak aloud at family meals: “May our feet walk humbly, our hands give freely, and our hearts love without end.”
A simple challenge this month: host one evening where you share a fond family memory and invite one younger relative to tell theirs. Record these stories or write them down.
Quote to remember: “Humility opens the heart; kindness builds the home.”
Carry your wisdom gently. Offer correction with warmth and receive correction with gratitude. Your steadiness steadies us. Continue to lead by example: be the quiet well others drink from, the steady lamp that guides weary travelers home. The Gregg name shines because you have loved first and last.

To all the Bynoes and Greggs in Barbados—especially those whose roots stretch back to the emerald shores of St. Vincent and the Grenadines—may this message be a gentle reminder of your heritage, your strength, and the legacy you carry. Whether your journey began in Paget Farm or Port Elizabeth, and whether your path led through Bridgetown or beyond, your story is woven into the fabric of Caribbean resilience and grace.
May your days be filled with unity, remembrance, and the kind of joy that only family and faith can bring. And may the bonds between islands and generations continue to flourish like the frangipani in bloom.
