Over the past few months I have been advocating for improvements in the NYS Building & Fire Codes and how they are prosecuted. Iโve attended Town Board meetings, Village board meetings, met with our county executive, US Congressman, NYS Senator, NYS Assemblyman, etcโฆ.
Most provide great lip service and say what they are going to do, some just want to tell me why I am wrong and that the problem with Building & Fire code violations does not exist.
One of the most disheartening things I have seen on numerous occasions is when there are members of the volunteer fire service sitting in the audience of these meetings and they say nothing because they are so far up the politicians asses or they are intimidated by them.

Everyone needs to write their elected officials and demand change to the NYS Buildings/ Fire Codes and how they are prosecuted. If they are not willing to raise their voices and influence the change that is needed, letโs find some representatives that will!
Itโs only a matter of time until another firefighter or resident is murdered due to the greed of these slumlords.
