✈️ Happy 80th Birthday to our great member SAS! 🇩🇰 🇳🇴 🇸🇪 🇺🇸

On September 17, 1946, SAS’ very first flight took off from Stockholm bound for New York - a 25-hour journey aboard the DC-4 Dan Viking, with stops in Copenhagen, Prestwick and Gander before landing at LaGuardia.

Today, SAS connects Scandinavia and the New York area with multiple flights every day — and today, three special anniversary flights from Copenhagen, Stockholm and Oslo are making the journey to New York to celebrate 80 years.

We dare to say that all of us at DACC New York have flown SAS across the Atlantic. For generations of Scandinavians and Scandinavian-Americans in New York, SAS has been part of both our exploring and our coming home.

And for many of us, home is on both sides of the Atlantic. SAS has taken us out into the world and brought us home again and again - whether that means landing in Scandinavia or touching down in New York.

For eight decades, SAS has connected people, businesses, ideas and opportunities across the Atlantic and helped bring Scandinavia to the world and the world to Scandinavia.

We are proud to have SAS as a member of our DACC New York community and look forward to celebrating this remarkable milestone here in New York.

Congratulations to everyone at SAS on 80 years and here’s to the journeys still ahead! 🥂✈️

Wednesday, September 2, we have our informal Stambord in Midtown West, and Wednesday, September 9, we’re taking it up a notch - or rather, up on deck!

Think of it as the equivalent of a rooftop gathering, but aboard the magnificent 1885 Tall Ship Wavertree, with the downtown skyline as our backdrop. We’re very excited about this one!

No tickets needed for Stambord — just show up. But make sure to get your ticket for September 9 before they sell out.

Come join us for an upper-deck professional networking and social get-to-gether!!

On September 9, we’re kicking off the DACC NY fall season at a pretty special New York location: the South Street Seaport Museum and the historic Tall Ship Wavertree.

There’s a Danish story here too. We’ll hear about the Danish connections to New York’s maritime history, explore the historic ships in smaller groups - and then gather on deck for drinks, skyline views and, most importantly, a chance to reconnect and meet some new people.

We will meet for a class at NRTHRN Strong and afterwards enjoy sandwiches and juices from Joe & The Juice. The workout is inspired by cross-country skiing, and we will have the opportunity to meet Nicoline, who is bringing the concept to the US.
