After working the meet….i decided to try a place that I had heard about through the “BBQ Telegraph “ Baare BBQ, it was a little out of my way but why not? The smell outside was intoxicating enough. I walked in and there were pictures of all the great BBQ joints and pit bosses across the state. I’m glad they pay homage to them! I ordered the moist brisket and got some extra to take home to Lisa. I also got ribs , the cutter asked me if I wanted some to take home, I told him my wife wasn’t much of a rib person so they were all for me!! I also got a link of jalapeno cheese sausage. He recommended the side of cheesy tater casserole.
The moist brisket was solid…cooked perfectly with an initial taste of a peppery bark and I was wondering right away “where’s the smoke?” Then it hit me late and it was delicious!! The jalapeno cheese sausage had a perfect amount of fattiness that really enhanced its flavor. The ribs….WOW!! They were on point!! I’m not a sweet rib person but they had just an ever so tiny hint of sweetness that really gave them a great flavor! They were cooked perfectly with a great pull on them! The cheesy tater casserole was amazing !! Also included were homemade pickle and onion slices and fresh jalapeño slices. After I ate and packed up some for Lisa I decided to try their Magnolia Banana Pudding. It was really more whipped but had a percent sweetness to top off the meal. ANOTHER great thing at this place, they had free beer for dine in only! I had to drive back to West Colombia so I did not partake. If I’m in Corpus and I get aTrue bbq craving , I will definitely come back and I highly recommend!
OH and I forgot to mention, they gave me a free sample of their honey butter cornbread! WOW!! I’ll definitely get a huge slice of that next time!!
