In 2020, “simp” ranked #9 among Google’s top trending definition searches in the United States. While many of us were learning how to navigate a pandemic, another generation was learning a new language around manhood, women, relationships, strength, boundaries and respect.

By the time some of us learned the language, an entire generation had already been having the conversation.

Pastors. Youth leaders. Men’s ministries. Women’s ministries. Children’s ministry leaders. Parents. Mentors.

Something is coming… and I’m not coming to this conversation pretending I already know where it ends.

I’ve spent most of my life trying to understand what it means to follow Jesus and to be God’s man. But lately, I’ve encountered questions—and even language—I had never seriously considered before.

Some of it challenges me.
Some of it I disagree with.
And if I’m telling the total truth… some of it makes sense to me.

So I’m not coming to bash anybody. I’m not coming to defend everything I’ve always believed. And I’m certainly not interested in joining a gender war.

I want understanding.

Because before we decide what’s right, wrong, biblical, cultural, strong, weak—or even what somebody calls a “simp”—maybe we ought to ask the bigger question:

What does it mean to be God’s man in 2026?

I’m willing to question what I think I know.
I’m willing to learn.
And I’m willing to follow the truth wherever it takes us.
