We had a discussion over dinner last night at HK Lounge Bistro whether we preferred lunch or dinner there. The dim sum at lunch is great, but you can also get most of the menu at dinner along with many other items such as abalone, wild caught turbot and braised short ribs. At Yeabo,Darling in Menlo Park Michael and Meichih Kim, formerly of Maum, produce a parade of spectacular dishes: corn custard, chicken liver, mousse with pineapple, yellowtail with cabbage, scallion croissant, prawns with Taiwanese sausage, duck breast, Kalbi beef, Karat Cake and milk soft cream. It’s definitely worth a drive to experience the exciting and beautifully executed food and sophisticated decor.

After spending a month with my dog as she recovers from a total hip replacement, I was finally able to go out to Bon Delire for lunch. They offer an amazing three-course lunch for $36. The menu on my visit included choice of a salad Lyonnaise or mushroom fricasse, either salmon with lentils or steak frites for main course and soft serve ice cream for dessert.
