The chickens are 7 weeks and will have one more week until processing. Last year we grew them 2 weeks longer. Curious to see the weight differences and any changes in texture or tenderness

More garden flowers 💐 💕

Canning the first of the potatoes! My first round of potatoes from the garden is ready to store. A larger second round is well on its way! These can be used in many recipes or for mashed potatoes throughout the year

Today in the garden: garlic scapes! These form when hard neck garlic tries to flower and produce seed. The scapes can easily be broken off at the base. Removing them allows the garlic to focus energy on the bulb rather than producing seed. For my scapes I removed the flowering end to use in future bone broth and saved the stem to use in pasta, pesto, flavored butter…whatever you want to add garlic flavor to! I blended in a food processor and froze with olive oil in small cubes. Tonight I mixed it with homemade basil pesto and mayo for turkey wraps!
