How Happiness Impacts Health

Being happier can boost your immune system. Happiness can also help in the reduction of stress levels, and help protect your heart by reducing blood pressure.

Many don’t even consider that happiness can influence their health, but the reality is much different, and science is starting to prove it.

We are going to show you that happiness and health are very closely connected and that happiness truly matters in life, for more reasons than many believe. After that, we know that you’ll dare to imagine a world where all seven or so billion people are happy in their lives, just as we are imagining it and working towards turning this dream into a reality.

The Importance of Happiness for Health

Many scientists have believed for a long time that happiness plays an essential role in our overall health and well-being, but only now are there more and more studies which confirm this statement.

A 2017 review discussed precisely this – it examines how subjective well-being influences various aspects of our physical health. This review does find a direct correlation, but it’s far more critical as it combines research from some two dozen more reviews and over a hundred studies.

All of them agree, without a doubt, that happiness can indeed influence health – says the lead author of the study Ed Diener, a world-leading psychologist nicknamed Dr. Happiness for his extensive and influential research on the subject.

The review doesn’t state how this correlation works, as no empirical scientific research can confirm that for now. Diener says that this is like ci******es, we still can’t find a reason why some heavy smokers live to a hundred while others die of cancer who have smoked far less.

However; the study suggests that it might result from a straightforward reason. Happier people – lead healthier lives. They eat healthier, exercise more, and are getting enough sleep. A 2017 study states that those with positive well-being are 47% more likely to consume healthy foods and 33% more likely to be physically active and thus exercise more. Another smaller study stated that people who have lower levels of positive well-being are 45% more likely to have trouble sleeping and falling asleep.

Besides, there’s research that supports the theory that being happier can boost your immune system. Happiness can also help in the reduction of stress levels, and help protect your heart by reducing blood pressure.

The Future of Health Can Be Brighter

All of this is just scratching the surface, and it’s the hope of Diener and many others, that all of this research and more that will follow will finally convince doctors to start monitoring positive emotions during routine physicals, and not concentrate on only the bad ones. We all also hope that people will start paying more attention to their lifestyles and eventually find ways to be happier.

Happiness, its correlation to health, and the future of health itself is a topic we are going to discuss at the next World Happiness Agora in 2020. Plenty of experts and futurists will address this subject for an entire day, while the other four days will cover the future of education, work, self-mastery and social development, and transformative technologies.

You can be a part of this as well, and you should. We all need to strive for a better tomorrow and a planet filled with happy people working together for an always better world.

A lot of Saints describe the beautiful analogy of human life with a tree. When we look around, we find that there are people who are strong and stay steady in all the circumstances of life. Those are the people who also contribute to the welfare of others and the society as a whole. While there are others who are flimsy and emotional. They can be shattered by minor adversities. They always seek help of others.

Discover the influence of color on your mood

Colors have an effect on your mood, writes Jean-Gabriel Causse in his book The Amazing Influence of Colors . For example, red evokes emotions, while green gives peace. Handy to take into account when painting your house, choosing a new interior or when putting together the outfit that you will wear during your first date or a job interview.

Get to know the properties of the colors green, orange, blue, brown, red and yellow. Which color do you feel comfortable with?

Green: harmonious
At home, green creates harmony. You associate this color with nature and provides peace and balance. Greenery in the house encourages you to take enough rest and to organize your time in a pleasant way. An ideal color for living room and office. Green clothes leave a friendly and balanced impression.

Orange: enthusiastic
Orange stands out. This color evokes enthusiasm, coziness, vitality and fun. Orange encourages you to connect and use humor in communication. Nice color for the home, but also for a business environment. You stand out positively in an orange piece of clothing. Be careful with too much orange, because that makes you restless.

Blue: soothing
Blue gives peace of mind and ensures clear communication. Do you wear blue? Then you come across as loyal and reliable. Blue in your living room? That gives peace of mind. For people who suffer from heart problems or high blood pressure, blue is a nice, calming color. Busy kids offers blue calm. The soothing effect of this color increases concentration and focus.

Brown: reliable
Brown has the same effects as green because of its association with nature. But be careful with too much brown in the house, because the darkness of this color can generate gloomy feelings. In brown clothing you appear careful and reliable. Not a color that impresses, but a color that makes you feel strong and calm.

Red: intense
The color red attracts attention. With a red dress you are the center of attention, regardless of how you feel at the time. No one averts their eyes from red. So consciously choose red, even at home.

Your natural state of mind

In order to begin to make changes in your life, you've got to begin by looking at things differently. A possible reason you are not as happy as you might be could be your old views and your old ways. To deal with circumstances, your old thought systems keep repeating the same way time after time, basically the similar approach you have always executed. When you don't see it any other way, how do you begin to change your perspective?

Some what ifs:

What if you could bring a perspective to your situations that would not cause your to be disturbed, saddened, or upset?

What if you ventured the potential that there are other ways to look at the events and situations in your life?

What if you could bring an attitude or perspective that would have you feeling confident and peaceful?

This alternate view awaits quietly along side our thought systems just waiting for your to access it. This is known as your natural state of mind. It is a view/perspective where solutions to problems, peace, general feeling of well-being, and creativity reside just waiting for you to tap in.

So begs the question.....how does one go from the old thought systems to the natural state of mind? Step one.....you have to WANT to be there. People wouldn't trade their thought system for anything. Some people think that their thought process is the ONLY way and that is the one way to look at things. For people looking for the less stressful and more peaceful life, the natural state of mind is the place.

All people have experienced their natural state of mind. Suppose you're in a conversation and during the course of the conversation you try to remember a name, place, or event...in the moment of nervousness or hasty thinking you are unable to recall the thought...you think harder and harder but it doesn't come to you. Later on, after the situation has passed it comes to you! Eureka! You knew it all along, but in your frustration the thought eluded you. When you stopped fretting, the answer appeared effortlessly. THAT is your natural state of mind working for you. ...keep reading on our website....

Allow yourself to expand the realm of possibilities.

People have beliefs usually based upon their upbringing, culture, religion or by the influence of their parents and-or their extended family. Apart from the belief in miracles, one might be left with a system of beliefs that has had, and will certainly continue to have, enormous significance- good and bad- in their lives. Not that all these inherited beliefs should be discarded, but only the falsity of their beliefs which keep them from living a joyful, fulfilled life.
