You may be asking yourself how we track how much food we give out...well we weigh it. All food that comes in and that goes out is weighed. This helps us to give a more accurate accounting of exactly what leaves the food shelf each month. We DO NOT count the weight of our carts though (everything that food is weighed on has a weight on it so we can subtract that number from the total the scale shows).

Who doesn't love fresh flowers that bring a smile to your face when you look at them?? We are thankful for the flower donations we get through our food rescue partners so that our patrons can enjoy the beauty, and amazing smell, of fresh flowers in their homes.

We are so thankful for all our food rescue partners who provide nutritional items for our patrons daily. Today we had low meat options for our shoppers until food rescue came in. One food rescue partner alone donated 365 lbs of meat (it says 471 but we have to subtract 106 for the cart weight)!! It takes a great big village to feed those who face food insecurity and we are grateful for ours.

In May of 2026, Westonka Community Food Shelf served 121 new families with 62 of those families utilizing the food shelf for the 1st time ever (on top of continuing to provide food support for families who have utilized the shelf regularly this year.) We distributed 146,025 LBS OF FOOD just in the month of May.

People ask how can I help? Did you know that you can sign up to give a regular donation on a monthly basis? It's easy to do online (see the link below). For example donating $10 a month = $120 for the year. We can take $1 donated and turn it into $8-9 worth of food through our buying power with the food banks so your donation of $120 for the year turns to $960-1,080 worth of food.

It takes many hands to feed our neighbors in need. We are so thankful for this community and for your support.
