Did you know that the entire Open Your Heart to the Hungry and Homeless campaign throughout the state raised 3.3 million dollars?!? Wow! While Westonka Community Food Shelf does not get all the money (we wish), we do get a proportion based on what we raised for the month of July. Thank you to this amazing community who gives so generously so that we can help feed our neighbors in need!!

Westonka Community Food Shelf is partnering with St John's Lutheran Church of Mound, MN , Northwest Tonka Lions and Westonka Healthy Community Collaborative to host a FREE farmer's market for those in our community who face food insecurity. No need to sign up, just come. It is Saturday September 19th 9-11 am or until the produce is gone. It will be located in the parking lot of St John's Lutheran Church - 2451 Fairview Lane Mound.

Do you love to golf? Do you love supporting local charitable organizations?? The Northwest Tonka Lions are having a community charitable golf event on Friday September 25th at Timber Creek Golf Course hosted by the golf course and Surfside Bar & Grill. The golf event is a fundraiser for the Mound Fire Department and other community organizations. The Lions are a big supporter of WCFS and we our a big supporter of theirs. We are so thankful for those in the community with gardens who donate their extra produce to Westonka Community Food Shelf!! Our patrons absolutely LOVE the fresh vegetables!!

This is Dave Tillman who has brought in 6 loads of fresh vegetables from his garden this summer totaling over 300 lbs!! Thank you Dave!!

With students going back to school, a priority for many of our families is SNACKS!! Let's be clear we all love a good snack, but students NEED snacks to feed their bodies as they work on educating their minds. When you are out this week picking up snacks for your kids, consider buying extra and dropping them off at the Westonka Community Food Shelf. Not only will we fill our shelves with them, but we also provide snacks to the local schools so that teachers are not having to purchase extra snacks for their classrooms.
