Everything you need to plan your Fourth of July in Cambria is in one place.
The 45th Annual Picnic in the Park lands on Saturday, July 4, at Shamel Park, 11 am to 5 pm, and this year it carries some extra weight: it's the country's 250th birthday, and organizers are expecting one of the biggest turnouts yet.
Here's the short version of the day. Opening ceremony at the flagpole at 11. Linn's Pie Eating Contest (in crust we trust). Live music and lawn dancing with Gladiatrax. A bounce house from the Lions Club, face painting, kids' crafts with the Cambria Scarecrows, a raffle, and food off the grill all afternoon. Admission is free this year thanks to a local donor.
One honest heads-up so you can plan: there are no fireworks at the park this year, and the day is built to wrap by 5 so you have time to head to a nearby show if that's part of your tradition. The picnic was never really about the fireworks anyway. It's about the afternoon.
We put together a full guide with parking and trolley tips, what to bring, and how to support the Legion that puts it all on. Read it before you go.
