✨ TOP 8 RESULTS ✨

We are saddened to share that we were not one of the 5 business selected from the top 8! BUT we are incredibly grateful we followed our dreams of On The Wagon Wheel and making it to the Top 8 in the Midland Entrepreneurial Challenge out of 200 original applicants. We still hold true to our community hub vision for this restaurant!

What a journey this has been. The knowledge we gained, the refinement of our business plan, and the connections we built along the way were invaluable. We are so proud of ourselves for taking the leap and chasing this dream. 🤍

Out of respect for the winners, we waited to share until results were officially released last night at the award ceremony. The second we made Top 8, we knew the competition would be incredibly tough, the businesses we stood alongside were absolutely phenomenal.

While we weren’t selected this round, the feedback we received was overwhelmingly positive. The primary reason? We do not yet have a secured location. We have a desired location and an app in had ready to submit but apps won’t be processed until Q3 of 2027.

We remain hopeful about opening our mom-and-pop diner in the new Stonebridge development in Northeast Midland. If the opportunity aligns in the next couple of years, you may very well see us enter the Challenge again in 2027 or partnering with a local commercial builder for a white box build.

We’re not gone. We’re just getting started. From the beginning, we’ve believed that what’s meant to be will be.

We also want to encourage anyone sitting on a dream to go for it. Walk into the rooms that make you nervous. Submit the application. Take the meeting. Bet on yourself. Growth doesn’t happen when you stay comfortable, it happens when you step into spaces that stretch you. Even when the outcome isn’t what you hoped for, the lessons, connections, and confidence you gain are 1000% worth it. Don’t let fear talk you out of the life you’re meant to build. 🤍

Tomorrow at 10:00 AM, we have the honor of presenting On The Wagon Wheel to the Midland Entrepreneurial Challenge judges.

We are incredibly grateful for this opportunity and so proud of how far this journey has taken us. No matter the outcome, making it to this stage is something we’ll always be thankful for because it represents countless hours, community support, and belief in what we’re building.

Every detail matters when you’re building a restaurant, and we’ve been intentional about each one. From our custom coffee mugs ready to be placed in the judges’ hands, to a fully developed menu and a website, these are the operational pieces that show we’re ready.

We recently received our scorecards back from the judges, and a few of them humbled us (as they should 👏🏼)! We’re listening closely, refining the details, and bringing everything together with purpose and intention.

You’ll notice the menus are blurred in this carousel.. We’re not quite ready to share the secret sauce with the public just yet. 😉

IN JUST ONE WEEK, on January 22, we’re hopeful we’ll get the phone call that we’ve been selected to present On The Wagon Wheel in front of the judges, February 3.

No matter the outcome, we’re proud of the preparation, the process, and the standard we’re holding ourselves to!

Today we picked up the official hardcopy of our On The Wagon Wheel business plan from our consultant, a huge milestone behind the scenes!

Now we wait patiently until January 22 to find out if we advance to the Top 8 and earn the opportunity to present in front of the judges.

No matter the outcome, we’re proud of the work, the growth, and the vision.

🎉 WE MADE IT TO ROUND 2 🎉

On The Wagon Wheel officially made it into the Top 15 of the Midland Entrepreneurial Challenge and we are over the moon! Initially there were nearly 300 applicants, and we had been narrowed down to the top 50 in the 1st round. 🧡

I’ve been diligently working on our full business plan with our business consultant, and it’s 90% complete. Next up: getting our scorecards back and tightening every detail we can.

📅 January 22 is the magic date — that’s when we find out if we make it to the final round, where the Top 8 businesses will pitch live to the judges and 5 lucky businesses will win.

No matter what happens, we are staying so humble and grateful for this opportunity and for everyone who has believed in this little breakfast & lunch diner dream.

As a full-time undergrad at UTPB, I’m extra proud to be a Falcon chasing big dreams in West Texas. 🦅✨
