It is with sadness and so much gratitude that we're announcing that we have sold the Mac Daddy trailer. We will still retain the Mac Daddy LLC, and will continue to do holiday orders and occasional catering.
Ginger, A.J., and I want to thank you all for your support and love throughout this venture.
A huge thanks to Ken Hooper who helped with advice and fabrication work on the buildout. To Jesse McDonald and Cindy McDonald at New Wing Order for the invite to our first outing and all the "you got this"-es we needed. Thanks to Michael Donahue and the late great Jennifer Biggs for their writeups. To Crosstown Brewing Company and Meddlesome Brewing Company for having us out. I hope we haven't left anyone out! And of course, thank you to our friends and family and all who came out and enjoyed our food.
As some of you know, the food trailer was a labor of love, built as a project during the COVID shutdowns when my business travel came to a halt. We took a police command trailer and totally stripped it down and then built it back up with the plumbing, gas lines, additional electric, shelving, and flooring. It was a 3-month project where A.J. and I learned a lot and got to spend time together that will never be forgotten.
With A.J. at the grill, inventing and rolling the "macarrito", Ginger Lord bearing the heat and greeting customers at the window, and some family friends filling in the blanks, we had the opportunity to serve some great comfort food and build up a nice little following.
But, A.J. is now about to start year 3 at Ole Miss and the work travel has kept us from being able to get out for a long while. Hopefully our little trailer will bring the next family the same joy when they see others lining up to get their food, and we know it will be made with love.
The truck/trailer will hopefully be back some day in the future when I retire from the real job and need something to get me out of the house. For now, we'll still be doing the take-home pans for holidays and special orders for your special occasions.
Stay tuned for Thanksgiving take-home orders!
