❤️ Remembering three special people who each hold their own unique place in Elvis history — Shelley Fabares, Bardahl and Dolly Parton.

We have been wanting to take a moment to remember Shelley and Bardahl, and with the heartbreaking news of Dolly Parton’s passing today, it seemed fitting to honor all three together.

🎬 Shelley Fabares was one of Elvis Presley’s memorable leading ladies, starring alongside Elvis in three films — Girl Happy, Spinout and Clambake. An incredible actress, singer and television star, Shelley passed away this week at the age of 82. Her place in Elvis history will always be remembered.

🏈 Bardahl shared a much more personal piece of Elvis history — including playing football with Elvis. Those are the kinds of stories and memories we treasure so much because they remind us of the man behind the legend. We were saddened to lose Bardahl this year, and his memory continues to be very much a part of our Elvis family.

🎶 And today, we mourn the loss of Tennessee’s own Dolly Parton. Dolly and Elvis share one of music’s great “what might have been” stories. Elvis wanted to record Dolly’s beautiful “I Will Always Love You.” Dolly wanted to hear Elvis sing it, too, but the recording ultimately didn’t happen when an agreement couldn’t be reached over the song’s publishing rights. Dolly made the difficult decision to hold onto her song — and music history was made in another way.

Three very different people. Three very different connections to Elvis. And three legacies that will continue through the music, movies, photographs and stories they left behind. ❤️

At Marlowe’s, we’re blessed to be surrounded by these stories — and by so many members of the Elvis family and fans who help keep them alive.

We remember them. We celebrate them. And we will always treasure their place in Elvis history. 🕊️

Rest in peace, Shelley, Bardahl and Dolly. ❤️

Year after year, you come through our doors — familiar faces, longtime friends, Elvis family and new friends we’re lucky enough to meet along the way. And somehow, every Elvis Week feels like one big family reunion. ❤️ Thank you. Thank you for coming back time and again. Thank you for bringing your families and friends. Thank you for filling these rooms with laughter, stories, music and memories. And thank you for sitting down with us for some good old-fashioned Memphis barbecue! 🐷

There’s something pretty special about looking around Marlowe’s during Elvis Week and seeing people who have known one another for decades sitting alongside people who may have just met — all brought together by a love for Elvis and the friendships that have grown because of him. We are grateful to every person who chooses to make Marlowe’s part of their Memphis and Elvis Week traditions.

❤️⚡️ Happy Birthday, Sam! 🎂🎉! On August 12, we had the pleasure of celebrating Sam Thompson’s birthday at Marlowe’s during Elvis Week! It was such a wonderful time filled with familiar faces, laughter, stories and friendships that go back many years. We’re always so grateful to welcome Sam Thompson, Billy Stanley, Charles Stone, Billy Smith and family, along with so many longtime friends who come together year after year. We loved getting to celebrate with you and everyone who came out to make the day so special! ❤️

The stories, the laughter and the memories are such a special part of Elvis Week. So many of these friendships go back decades, all connected through Elvis and the legacy that continues bringing people together.

📚 And if you love the stories behind the history, be sure to stop by the Marlowe’s Gift Shop while you’re here! We carry Autographed books by Billy Stanley, and Charles Stone. Charles worked alongside Colonel Tom Parker’s organization helping coordinate Elvis’ concert venues, and his book offers a fascinating look behind the scenes of those touring years. These are more than books — they’re memories and stories from people who were actually there. ❤️
