The last two weeks have been nothing short of amazing!

I wasn't sure what to expect when I took on this endeavor. It was beyond ambitious. Sprinkle in every road block imaginable along the way too. But it happened, and Barracks Baristas has it's first functioning café!

The staff and students of the Army War College, and the Carlisle Barracks are some of the best customers we could ask for! We are so happy and proud to be servicing a great community of active duty, military families, veterans, and civilian staff that make the Carlisle Barracks a great place to be!

We are so grateful for how this turned out, and the support we have. We will continue to grow and add to our menu and capabilities as time goes along here. We can't wait for what else is in store for Barracks Baristas Coffee Company!

WE PASSED INSPECTION! MONDAY, WE OPEN. 🇺🇸☕

Well... this took a little longer than planned. 😂

First, I owe everyone an apology. We originally planned to be open sooner, and when that date had to move, I didn't do a very good job of letting everyone know what was going on. That's on me.

The last few weeks have been an absolute sprint getting this place ready, working through inspections, equipment, menus, coffee, food, and about a thousand things I didn't even know I needed to figure out until they were sitting directly in front of me.

But yesterday, Barracks Baristas Coffee & Cafe officially passed inspection.

And this Monday, 24AUG26 at 7:00 AM, we're opening the doors in Root Hall at the Carlisle Barracks.

What started as an idea in 2022 is about to have a home.

Yesterday it was buying boxes on boxes of supplies.

Today it was moving all dry goods in, deep cleaning, figuring out where everything is going to live, and getting this place one step closer to opening.

There’s still a lot to do 😅

But walking into this space today felt different.

For months, Barracks Baristas has existed in my head, online, at events, in conversations, and in a ridiculous amount of paperwork. Now I’m standing inside the place where we’re actually going to serve people every day.

That’s pretty cool.

I don’t want to only show the finished product. I want to show whole thing. The boxes, the mess, the long days, the things that go wrong, and those little moments where you look around and realize holy sh*t… this is happening!

We’re building this thing one box, one cup, and one day at a time.

We got the keys!!!

There have been a lot of long days, sleepless nights, setbacks, and moments where I wondered if we'd ever get here.

Today, we unlocked the next chapter.

Barracks Baristas finally has a home inside the United States Army War College at the Carlisle Barracks.

Now the real work begins.

Over the next couple of weeks we'll be moving in, building out the café, dialing in the menu, and getting ready to serve the incredible community here.

Thank you to everyone who's believed in this dream and supported it along the way.

August 17th. Let's get to work.

We're getting closer to opening every day, and now comes one of the parts I'm most excited about.

I don't want to fill our shelves with random products. I want people to walk into Barracks Baristas and discover businesses they didn't know existed.

We're looking to partner with Pennsylvania businesses creating products that actually belong in a coffee shop.

Think things like:
• Protein bars & clean snacks
• Beef jerky
• Ready-to-drink beverages
• Coffee accessories
• Grab-and-go food
• Functional or high-quality products people will actually use

If your business creates something that would be a great fit in our café, or if you know someone who does, send us a DM or tag them in the comments.

Operation Honor was one for the books.

Michelle Lang | Nonprofit Leader + Military Spouse and Operation Honor: Rural Salute® always put on an incredible event for our veterans!

The conversations were incredible.

Hearing veterans and their families connect with people who could help them understand benefits they've earned reminded me why events like this matter. Seeing friends walk away with information they didn't even know was available made the whole day worth it.

On top of that, I got to spend the day with my family, meet some great people, and serve some coffee. I can't ask for much more than that.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our tent, grabbed a cup, shared a story, or simply said hello. We appreciate every one of you.

This Saturday, we'll be in Gettysburg for Operation Honor: Rural Salute.

It's more than an event, it's a day built around connection, bringing veterans, military families, and the community together with organizations, resources, local businesses, live music, food, and family activities. The goal is simple: make support easier to find and remind people they don't have to navigate life after service alone.

We'll be there serving handcrafted coffee drinks!

If you're in the area, stop by. Grab a coffee. Meet some incredible organizations. Support local vendors. Spend some time with people who genuinely care about our veteran community.

Dead of Summer Night Market was awesome! The weather tried to keep everyone home, but the community showed up anyway!

We brought the Mad Hatter theme, served up fresh coffee, caught up with friends, made some new ones, and built the kind of relationships that matter long after the last cup is poured.

That's why we do this.

Coffee is just what brings people together. The people are why we keep coming back.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, grabbed a drink, shared a story, or simply said hello. Days like today remind us that Barracks Baristas has always been about something bigger than coffee.

Thankfully I wasn't inside!

A tree branch the size of a small car came through our roof last night! I am working as fast as I can to get the branch removed and the hole covered before these next group of storms come through today.

We don't expect these type of things to happen, but they do. This could have been a lot worse, but that doesn't make it any less sh*tty.

We are still good to go, roasting, and getting ready for the launch of our coffee shop in August. Mother nature will have to try harder.

Stay safe out there, and check in on your loved ones.
