There's something we’ve been a little quiet about..

brunch at Assembly.

Brunch has actually been open to the public since we opened, but we wanted a few Sundays to work out the quirks, learn the flow, and make sure we were ready before making much noise about it.

So, here we are.

Assembly serves brunch every Sunday from 10 AM–2 PM.

Steak & eggs. Biscuits & gravy. French toast. Pancakes. Spam Benedict. Mimosas. Bloody Marys. And plenty more.

Reservations are encouraged, and walk-ins are always welcome.

It was a different kind of assembly for some Mason High School (MHS) students! Dave Jones' Leadership A class trekked to Mason's newest restaurant Assembly Mason to hear from Matt Gillett, owner of Saddleback BBQ, Assembly and other eateries.

Gillett talked with students about leadership in the areas of food service, staff management and entrepreneurship. The class then enjoyed a wonderful meal of chicken wraps or burgers and walked back to MHS on a beautiful fall day. Thanks to the staff of Assembly for making this happen!

Friday morning, we had the opportunity to host a leadership class from Mason High School at Assembly.

Matt spent some time walking the students through five different types of leadership, along with some of the leadership tools he’s used over the years. He talked openly about what has worked well, what hasn’t, and some of the lessons that can only really be learned through experience.

We finished up with a Q&A, then let everyone choose between burgers and chicken Caesar wraps for lunch.

All in all, it was a really unique experience, and we’re glad Mason High School is giving students opportunities like this to get out of the classroom, learn directly from people in the community, and see how leadership looks in the real world.

We were honored to be a small part of it.

A pretty special celebration at Assembly tonight.

One of our guests is celebrating their 92nd birthday with us, and they’re doing it right. Old Fashioneds all around.

When you open a restaurant, you spend a lot of time trying to predict the future.

How many guests will come through the door. Which menu items will be the favorites. Which tables people will request. How much staff you’ll need to make it all work.

We got some of those things right.

We were very wrong about how many people we’d be serving every day, in the best possible way.

That’s a long-winded way of saying: we’re busy, and we need more help.

Our Old Fashioned has been our most popular cocktail by far, with more than 200 poured in the past 10 days(!).

We’ve been hard at work getting ready for another weekend at Assembly.

Thank you to everyone who stopped in during Sun Dried. It was a hell of a weekend, and we loved seeing the dining room full.

Reservations are fairly tight again this weekend, but we’ll always do our best to accommodate walk-ins, and lunch is a good option if you’re looking to stop by.

One week at Assembly.

What a week.

We knew we were excited to finally open these doors, but we truly had no idea what to expect. The support from Mason and the entire greater Lansing community has completely blown us away.

Thank you to everyone who made a reservation, stopped in for lunch, joined us for a drink, told a friend about us, shared a post, left us a review, or simply wished us well. Seeing this restaurant full of people enjoying something we spent so much time building has been incredibly special.

We’ve had a great time getting to know all of you, and we’re incredibly grateful to call Mason home.

One week down. Here’s to many, many more.
