Looking for dinner ideas this weekend?! Add this one to your flight logs- a farm fresh pesto pasta meal 🤤
The folks at Bushel & Peck have curated quite the spread for this bundle package! Local basil, garlic, Parmesan, walnuts, salt, and 100% Italian pasta.
Stop by and see them in store this Friday, or secure your payload ahead of time and email these cool people at [email protected]
Here’s something we’re excited to offer you all: a meal bundle and recipe inspired by Northern Italian cooking author Marcella Hazan, comprised of all local ingredients!
A classic pesto recipe uses pine nuts, which are plentiful in Northern Italy. Regionally, other common nuts are used: hazelnuts in Central Italy and walnuts in the South. In that spirit, we are incorporating nuts local to our region, black walnuts, which provide a toasty, earthy flavor.
In the bundle:
Basil 4 oz - Young Harvest Farm
Black Walnuts 2 oz - Franklin Sustainable Farms
Fresh Red Garlic bulb - Franklin Sustainable Farms
Parmesan 8 oz block - South Mountain Creamery
Fusilloni Pasta 16 oz - Pastanauts
Finishing Salt 1 oz - J.Q. Dickinson Saltworks
Here’s where it’s all coming from!
Young Harvests, a small farm in Charles Town specializing in fresh salad greens, microgreens, and seasonal vegetables.
Franklin Sustainable Farms, an Amish organic farmer co-op of about 40 growers in Franklin County, PA, just north of Hagerstown. They are a primary source for certified organic produce at our shop.
South Mountain Creamery, a farmer-owned dairy from Middletown, MD. They offer minimally processed, pastured dairy products, such as glass-bottle milk, ice cream, cream, and cheeses.
Pastanauts! A new vendor who has already become much beloved, providing fresh pasta dough made with Italian-imported wheat, water, and salt. B&P is the first storefront to sell Pastanauts products, and we’re excited to highlight their delicious pasta in this meal.
J.Q. Dickinson Salt-Works of Charleston, WV. Their salt brine is naturally sourced from the ancient Iapetus ocean (predating the Atlantic), from deposits enclosed within the Appalachian mountains.
