This isn’t just rhubarb… it’s a little piece of my family ❤️

These plants were transplanted from our family farm, and every year when they’re ready to harvest, it takes me right back to my childhood.

I grew up picking these same stalks with my mom and granny…
then headed into the kitchen to make rhubarb crunch from scratch.

No shortcuts. No mixes. Just simple ingredients, a lot of love, and probably a little too much “taste testing” along the way 😉

Now I get to carry on that tradition in my own kitchen… and share it with you.
Thinking I might bring back a small batch of homemade rhubarb crunch this week—just like we used to make it.

This makes my baker heart so happy.

I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to partner with B Sweet Cupcakes and provide sourdough for their shop. Being able to help another local business fill a gap in their menu is such a privilege.

Happy International Women’s Day!

Mountain View Sweetery exists because of generations of women who believed a kitchen could be a place of love, creativity, and a little bit of magic.

Some of my favorite recipes come from family traditions passed down through strong women who taught me that baking isn’t just about ingredients—it’s about memories, comfort, and bringing people together.

Today I’m celebrating the grandmas, moms, daughters, and dreamers who fill kitchens with laughter, flour, and stories worth sharing.

One of my favorite things about being a baker? The amazing community behind it.

This week I had the opportunity to collaborate with another local baker who needed an edible image for one of her cake designs. I was happy to help make it happen!

I love when small businesses support each other. We all have different tools, skills, and specialties, and when we work together, it helps everyone create something amazing for their customers.

Small businesses are stronger when we collaborate, share knowledge, and lift each other up. Do you have a favorite local business you love to support?

Some breads demand constant attention. Ciabatta is more like… “Check on me, give me a little stretch, and let me nap again.” 😄

Right now we’re in the stretch-and-fold stage — this is where the magic starts. Instead of kneading, we gently strengthen the dough over time. It’s a slower process, but that’s what creates those beautiful airy pockets ciabatta is known for.

If all goes well, these will be headed for a long rest so we can have fresh, crusty rolls in the morning. Because life is simply better when it starts with warm bread.

Are you an apple fritter fan? My sourdough starter and have been figuring out our routine after its little fridge nap. The discard jar was almost full so I took the opportunity to try an Apple Fritter Loaf recipe I saved months ago. I can't wait to try it.
