Linear drains are very popular. We have installed a lot of them over the years. However, you need to understand that they require more maintenance than a standard drain grate. You must pull them on a regular basis and clean the trough and grate. There’s a lot of nasty stuff that accumulates below it. When that happens, they can become slow to drain. Attached is a picture of perhaps the nastiest thing I’ve ever seen. Also attached are a few other grates that clients have not had any issues with. Be prepared for gross. Zoom in on the first picture for what can happen if you do not properly maintain one. This client wants it replaced with a perforated metal grate and it’s a pricey endeavor.
