Good morning! I know it's early but I have a few announcements.
Prices of everything have continued to go up. I'll be honest. If I was a paying customer I would never pay 3 dollars for a cake pop and I don't want you guys to have to either. I use nothing but Ghirardelli chocolate. So I'm usually already losing at my 25 a dozen cake pops. Most cake pop people use almond bark which is much cheaper. My husband calls me a chocolate snob. He's right. I will always be the Cadillac of treat making. I believe in the best quality product for your money. I've never been worried about what my profit is. Just making sure I'm supplying the best thing for YOU.
Next, I took a lot of time off last year from baking. For those of you who didn't know. My dad was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer. They said it was environmental based. He was in the automotive paint industry since he was a teenager. My dad is honestly one of my best friends, I have always been a daddy's girl. And I took that like a punch in the gut. The truth was I also felt guilty being an automotive paint sales rep. While I know safety regulations have changed since my dad was younger I really struggled to continue to sell the products that contributed to my father's death sentence. So I had to leave the industry. Which turned my life upside down and was way harder than I ever imagined. I miss my customers, I miss being good at my job, and I really truly miss the creative outlet that my brain apparently needed in that job.
For the past few months while I've made your orders my husband has had to watch me cry at the table wondering if I'm going to continue to do this. Something that brought me joy now brings me anxiety. With my kids sports my time is even more limited. And not knowing about my future with my career choice I just don't know what I'm doing. The thought of giving this up because at one time it was my dream is so hard. I'm so proud of what I have accomplished since I started this. But I'm finding it really hard to decide what is in the best interest of me, my family, and my mental health.
So if you have made it this far. I'm sorry it's so long. My dad said I should have been a writer. But after the end of the year I don't know if I will continue with Sweet Bs or if I will officially hang it up. Feel free to offer words of wisdom on this post, suggestions, pictures of your favorite product I created, or anything else you would like to say. I've always been open and honest. And I know a lot of you have been asking where I've been so I thought I owed it to you to be completely raw and honest.
Happy Sunday everyone! Please enjoy your family and your friends who feel like family.
