The sale is on now and you can use the tickets any day the event is open! Jacks unleashed is everything nice about Midwestern October. On Thursday nights you can bring dogs (this is one of the events we have taken Pumpkin to for years to help socialize her). Food vendors, craft vendors, s'mores roasting stations, hot apple c***r... and an accessible quarter mile trail of jack'o'lanterns with music and lights (no intense strobing). Folks in wheelchairs, using walkers, or pushing strollers have no problems with the track. Dark outdoors event with some spooky Halloween themes, but no gore, jump scares, etc.

So fun! Support Lansing area ethnic clubs! Meet your neighbors, enjoy a meal, learn something!

And just like that it’s September! I hope you had a great summer, I know I did and we’re getting ready for another season of Dinner/Dances here at the Lansing Liederkranz German-American Club. I don’t know about you but my thoughts are on Oktoberfest! Delicious German food, beverages, music, dirndls and lederhosen! All this and a whole lot of Gemütlichkeit (warmth, friendliness and good cheer) can be found at the Liederkranz on September 19 for Oktoberfest Part 1!

We are going to be having a very special menu for Oktoberfest Part 1 as a fundraiser for our roof repairs and to more closely match Oktoberfest in Germany!

Hey…you’re wondering why we celebrate Oktoberfest in September when clearly it has “October” in the name! Well, it has to do with b**r 🍺😆 …no really! B**r was traditionally brewed starting in October after the grains were harvested. The current year’s barrels needed to be emptied out and what better way than to drink that delicious beverage! Plus there is the added benefit of Septembers longer days and better weather! But don’t worry, Oktoberfest is also celebrated in October (Oktoberfest Part 2 coming next month)!

So let’s celebrate the beautiful month of September at the Liederkranz! Shine up your dance shoes, start thinking about delicious German food and a bier or two (it’s traditional after all) and get ready for our next Dinner/Dance!

Have you ever wanted to learn the Polish language?

We are starting up lessons again at the Federated Polish Home in Lansing, MI Monday September 14th at 6:30pm.

We have a native speaker of Polish instructing us (our backup teacher is also a native speaker) and we are starting a new, modern textbook that is used in Poland to teach newcomers conversational Polish language.

It's a great time to join whether you have some understanding of the language or none at all!

Some updates about where I will be selling Aunt Janie's baked goods:

I will be continuing my every-other week schedule at the Meridian Township Farmers' Market until the end of the summer market.

Sat Aug 29th 8am-2pm
Sat Sept 12th 8am-2pm
Sat Sept 26th 8am-2pm

I am also so excited to say that I will be vending at Old Town Krampusnacht again!

Dec 5th 3pm-8pm

I am also working on some October and December markets/events, but mostly I am looking forward to going back to Polish language classes, doing batch cooking at home, and generally doing things that I don't have as much time to do during the summer market season.

I sincerely thank each and every one of you for your support, and I hope to see you all over the greater Lansing area!
