You won’t find this in any cookbook, but the very FIRST STEP in making the most authentic Neapolitan-style woodfired pizza begins with building your own cast refractory Pompeii-style dome oven in the driveway.

Eleven years ago, this dream started and it still continues today. When I say I make pizzas from scratch, I really mean it—including the oven.

A few dates are open this fall. We are booking parties now for 2026.

Founding Kyes Guys Pizza members, ‘Mario and Luigi’ (nephew’s Isaiah and Adam Kyes) returned last week to serve at our big family event. Both now work at Vitta Pizza Canal Park in Duluth. With three years at Vitta’s under their belts, they now open and top like I wish I could. ‘Zio’ (uncle) Is very proud. Carry on!
