Whenever Thai folks discuss a meal, a good deal of conversation is about the sauces. Chef Bee’s sauces are available in the “Side orders” section of the menu. Today we will highlight her tamarind/onion/chili sauce. This is a balanced tart/sweet/(just a little)spicy sauce that is perfect to go with grilled meats, such as bus stop chicken, or fresh vegetables such as sliced cucumber. Here in the US we agree that dips go with chips. In Thailand, the right sauce makes the dish 🙂. With the cooler weather coming next week, our thoughts turn to hearty comfort foods: rich stews and soups for example. One classic Thai comfort food is Panang curry. This is a rich, creamy coconut crème-based stew that is very herb-forward in flavor, the most common proteins for this are chicken, pork and beef, although tofu works quite nicely also due to the potent flavors of the other ingredients. Hi everybody! The inside garden is coming along as we get all the tropical fruits, herbs, and spices settled in for the winter. The dining room is looking a bit more jungly.
