My Poor Tired Liver Nutrition-focused culinary educator, personal chef, and recipe developer based in Nashville, TN. Shortly after, I went raw.

I knew what I needed to do when I hit my health plateau; I went vegan. My health, happiness, and overall clarity took precedence over everything else I had going and low and behold, I grew happier, healthier, and became empowered.

My Poor Tired Liver in its blog form started in late 2011. I began chronicling every vegan and raw recipe I created in hope that I could use these recipes to help others looking to achieve greater health. Feeling a strong responsibility to research every detail before feeling comfortable putting my thoughts out in the world, I decided to pursue Raw Food Chef training, my Detox Coach certification, and my Holistic Nutrition Coaching certification. In 2014, I opened my first raw restaurant, Avo, the first full-scale raw restaurant in the state of Tennessee. I sold AVO after winning “Best New Restaurant” and “Best Vegetarian” in Nashville in 2015 and hit the road as a private chef working on tour. I have cooked all over Canada, the USA, Europe and the UK. Highlights from the last few years include making my Food Network debut thanks to Trisha Yearwood and her hit show, “Trisha’s Southern Kitchen.” Plans for my second restaurant are currently underway. I look forward to sharing my food with the world and coaching others so they can do the same. Through our lifestyle and nutrition choices, we can better respect ourselves and demonstrate compassion for others.

Throwback! 4 years ago today, I was headed for the airport to start cooking for Pearl Jam in Canada and it 👏 was 👏 a 👏 blast! 👏 Their regular chef (who is amazing! Thanks, Sam!) wasn’t able to go for this stretch, so I got called in. The best part? Making lifelong new friends and seeing some of my old friends from my other road fam, Neil Young’s crew! 🚌 🎶 I miss touring but I’m loving life now, too. 🥰

It’s kinda chic to be fully dedicated. 💅

Looking back at old posts usually makes me cringe, but not today. Cooking, teaching, growing, and loving the hustle since 2013—in kitchens and classrooms big and small, stateside and abroad. It’s nice to stop and reflect for a second. ✨

Love a good viral trend. I want to see yours! Comment below and I’ll head over to your page to cheer 👏 you 👏 on! 👏

It’s hard to believe the holiday season is just around the corner and the new year will be here before we know it. 😅

Deciding if you should hit follow? Let’s get it all on the table. (Along with some great food, obviously).

I’m Jess, and I’m here to feed you—no judgment, zero drama, just deliciousness. 💯 Whether you’re trying a Meatless Monday for the first time or figuring out how to make broccoli not taste boring, you belong here. 🫂

Here are the reasons to follow (or unfollow!):
✅ I will always push vegetables on you.
✅ I might convince you that cooking is actually relaxing.
✅ I’m a chef with some serious creds (a decade on tour with musicians and founder of Nashville’s first raw food spot in 2015).
✅ I will never “yuck your yum.”
✅ I’m a mom, so you’re going to read about it.
✅ My idea of a good time is hitting my local farmers market.
✅ I love supporting other bad a$$ women who want to make cool s**t happen.
✅ And yeah, I might just encourage a dessert… and a cocktail. 🥂

I’ve had this account for almost 15 YEARS (!!!) now, so I’m not going anywhere. 💘

Ready for a safe space to get inspired (and fed)? Hit FOLLOW 😚 or drop a 🥑 in the comments if you’re already here for the journey!
