From June 1 - June 21 (Father’s Day), 100% of our sales of our Thaiger + Dirty Thaiger will be donated to Moon Bar/Tian Tea House in tribute to owner Saranya, who just lost her father.
I was fortunate enough to travel to Bangkok, Thailand to meet Saranya’s father in 2023. He was stoic, but proud of his babygirl. Already battling illness, it was clear how significant Saranya’s dreams meant to her family. She showed me her neighborhood, her childhood home, her bar she helped create and open there. A force to be reckoned with.
Saranya is the main bread winner for her family. I’ve seen her work at many Thai restaurants around Kansas City, she cut ice at Swordfish Tom’s, bartended at Kata Nori and was a loyal barista for us for almost two years. Her hard work was always fueled by taking care of her family in Thailand. She helped us develop an authentic Thai tea recipe and still sources all of our teas for us directly from her hometown.
Last week, Saranya opened her dream bar and tea house surrounded by Vietnamese lions and her closest friends. Her father waited for her to complete her dream to complete the cycle of life. As tragic and sad we are he is not with us, we are grateful he got to be on earth while Moon Bar opened. 🥹
Many small business owners understand the sacrifices it takes to open your building — but to do it as a woman, an immigrant, with folks and a system in a place that makes everything very difficult to even believe you have a chance — she did it.
Moon Bar and Tian Tea house mean the world to us. We hope that during this time you can support by:
* Following .kc +
* Making a reservation at Moon Bar today!
* Buying a Thaiger or Dirty Thaiger with us.
We are sending her husband Zach, her family, the team of Tian Tea House and Moon Bar our support, condolences and the biggest hug. We love you.
