A premier Jacksonville waterfront restaurant with breathtaking views The Sandollar was originally built in 1954 by a gentleman who lived in Fort George Island.

This small but capable restaurant was able to capitalize on the booming American shrimp market from Mayport across the river. The business thrived and created the tradition of serving fresh and local seafood at low costs. This was when Heckscher Drive still had bridges that were made of wood and moved with the tide. After a while, the area demanded a larger facility and in 1988, a new building was

constructed by Dwayne Williams, who owned La Cruise Casino and Restaurant in Mayport. He kept the tradition of providing customers with fresh, quality seafood at a low price. Today, under that same direction from the original owner, we look forward to bringing back the same great seafood that The Sandollar brought in when it opened. We are proud to be serving our local community for more than 15 years now and will continue to give back and assure our locals that the next decade will provide the same great service, incredible food and innovation that we are known for.

Chef Harry himself will be here cooking steaks perfectly to the temperature you order.

We’re looking for a personable kitchen manager that can work with Chef Harry. But we’re warning you now, ⚠️ Chef Harry and Ryan are tough, this is no shack on the river‼️

They expect a spotless kitchen, perfectly plated food and every single item cooked to perfection. PERFECTION! That’s right, no shortcuts around here. Your job will be to own up to what is sent out of the kitchen and speak to customers when it’s not what they expect.

A beautiful weekend in on the horizon! We thought we’d share some photos we took along with some fun things to do on Heckscher!

If you haven’t explored Heckscher Drive lately, make a day of it:

🏖️ Hit the beach at Huguenot Memorial Park
Spend a few hours on the sand, swim, fish, watch the boats come through the inlet or just enjoy one of the most unique stretches of coastline in Jacksonville.

🚤 Launch the boat at Jim King Park
Head out into the St. Johns River or Intracoastal for a day of boating or fishing.

🎣 Go fishing
Between the river, creeks, marshes and inlet, the Heckscher Drive area has plenty of opportunities to wet a line.

🛶 Bring the kayak or paddleboard
Explore the quieter creeks and waterways surrounding the Timucuan Preserve and Fort George Island.

Take the scenic drive beneath the tree canopy, explore the waterfront and stop by the historic Ribault Club.

-Customizable colored lighting through the building to display your event colors.
-Custom built buffets or custom menus with entrees of your choosing.
-Private Bar Service at any of three bars.
-Drink tickets or Open Bar Service
-6 separate areas that can be reserved

-AV services available for microphones, videos and speakers

During Christmas🎄this year we’ll have thousands of lights, and presents hanging from the ceiling. Hundreds of decorations and stockings along with a dozen Christmas trees throughout the building.
