It is with heavy hearts that we share that we have made the difficult decision to close Stir It Up at the end of this year.
Earlier this year, we were notified that our landlords would no longer be renewing our lease. Over the last nine months, we have explored countless options and searched extensively for a new space. Unfortunately, with the current cost of construction and commercial kitchen build-outs, combined with the high cost of commercial rent, we have not been able to find a new location that makes financial sense for Stir It Up.
Our landlords graciously extended our lease through the end of December, giving us a few additional months to wind down our operations and, most importantly, give our incredible team more time to find their next opportunities.
Our walk-up window will close at the end of August. After that, we’ll shift our focus to our wholesale business and custom orders through the end of the year. You may still see our team working in the bakery on Wednesdays and Fridays, and we’ll have some packaged favorites available when we can—including our beloved Cinnamon Rolls!
But before we look too far ahead, we want to say thank you. To every single customer who has come to our window, placed an order, brought a friend, shared a post, sent an encouraging message, celebrated a milestone with us, or simply stopped by for something sweet—thank you.
Thank you for believing in our mission and choosing Stir It Up. Thank you for allowing us to be part of your birthdays, celebrations, holidays, mornings, and everyday moments. Thank you for every purchase and every word of encouragement.
Because of you, Stir It Up has been here for more than TEN years. And that is something we will forever be incredibly proud of.
At the heart of Stir It Up has always been our team. We have had the absolute privilege of employing an incredible group of individuals, and our mission of creating meaningful employment opportunities for people with disabilities has always been what made this bakery so much more than just a bakery. We are so proud of the people who have walked through these doors and all that they have accomplished. As our team begins looking for their next opportunities, if you know of a great job or organization that may be a good fit for any of our staff, please reach out. We would be so grateful for your help in supporting them through this next chapter.
And if we have to close our doors, we’re going to have a little fun while we do it! Our menu may look a little different for the rest of August as we feature some of our staff’s all-time favorite things to bake. You’ll still find all of your usual window favorites, along with a few special extras sprinkled in whenever we can.
So come see us. Bring your friends. Grab one more cinnamon roll. Try something new. And help us make these last few weeks at the window really special.
