Over the last few months, I’ve watched multiple small businesses close their doors and throw in the towel. One side of me feels so sad and heartbroken, because I know exactly how much time, sacrifice, and work go into trying to make a business successful.
But at the same time, it makes me sit back for a moment… because while some are struggling, ours is thriving. And yes — we are blessed, thankful, and grateful beyond words. But it’s not luck. Since day one, we have worked HARD to be original, to stand out, to stay consistent, and to offer something no one else around us does.
A lot of people jump into the food industry thinking it’s going to be easy because they see others succeeding. But the truth is, the first 5 to 10 years will consume your entire life. You have to build it brick by brick. You have to be hands‑on. You have to start small, stay grounded, avoid getting too big too fast, and put in the work yourself without drowning in debt.
If I could give any advice, it would be this:
Stay grounded. Have a plan. Be original.
I’m not going to say “I think it’s funny- because its not funny to learn life lessons the hard way” but I will say this — it speaks volumes when people copy you, laugh at you, bully you, or try to make a mockery of your hard work… and you stay quiet, stay focused, stay in your lane… and in the end, they’re the ones who shut down. Not because you wished it, but because envy, jealousy, and lack of originality will always catch up.
We support small businesses. We don’t copy. We don’t tear others down. We genuinely help without expecting anything in return — and I truly believe that’s why we are successful.
Be a good human. Don’t be shady. Don’t let jealousy take over your own lack of work effort or originality. Just like my mama always told me --Because God… oh man… God will bless you right in front of the very people who tried to break you. 🩷
