Today I had the opportunity to attend the Women Entrepreneurs Conference 2026 at the Prince Waikīkī on Oʻahu.

It was meaningful to be surrounded by women from across Hawaiʻi who are building businesses, creating opportunities, and pouring into their communities. I learned a lot today, but the quote that really stuck with me was:

“People don’t care about how much you know, until they know about how much you care.”

That hit home for me because so much of what we do with Big Island Smokehouse and Hale ‘Ai Momona has always been about people first. The relationships, the community, and the intention behind the work matter just as much as the business itself.

Mahalo nui to Vibrant Hawaiʻi for making this opportunity possible. I’m leaving today feeling grateful, inspired, and excited to continue growing both personally and professionally 🤍

Was casually scrolling Instagram and saw Chef Evan in a Culinary Institute of the Pacific ad 🤯🔥

Pretty surreal moment seeing the hard work, passion, and years in the kitchen being recognized like this. A lot of people only see the finished plates at Big Island Smokehouse, but there’s a whole journey behind it; from culinary training, to learning techniques, to building this business from the ground up for our community here in Hawai’i.
