Yum yum. Maybe buy local instead.

FYI

09/22/2026

Why is the honey at the store so cheap you say? Probably because it’s not real!

09/21/2026

Sure like this picture I took of this girl working the goldenrod.

We will not be at the farmers market today.

Job completed!

And here we go!

09/15/2026

Ok folks, I trust you, so I thought I’d ask which color lid looks best?

09/14/2026

Yes

Before you pull that goldenrod, look closer.

Late summer is when many native bees are running out of flowers. Goldenrod is one of the season’s most important final food sources, providing nectar and pollen when many other blooms are already gone.

And goldenrod usually isn’t the reason you’re sneezing. Its heavy, sticky pollen is carried by insects. Ragweed—the plant blooming nearby—is wind-pollinated and far more likely to trigger fall allergies.

So if goldenrod is growing along your fence, beside the driveway, or at the edge of your garden, consider leaving it until it finishes blooming. If you plant it intentionally, choose a native species suited to your region.

That bright yellow “weed” may be one of the last meals a bee gets before winter.

This is why I tell people they can store honey in a freezer (NOT a Refrigerator) to use later. It won’t freeze because there’s not enough water in honey. It will not get granulated either because it’s too cold. Dry ice didn’t even make it freeze!
