Come and support the High Desert Farmers Market
π Thank You and What Comes Next
First and foremost, thank you.
To everyone who attended the Board meeting, spoke on our behalf, shared our posts, submitted potential locations, sent encouraging messages, or supported us in any way: we are incredibly grateful.
We want to be honest about where things stand. After our discussions and the Board meeting, Victor Valley College has decided to move forward with the proposed rent increase.
The High Desert Farmers Market cannot absorb an increase of this size without time to plan. However, keeping the market open and continuing to serve our community remain our highest priorities. Because of that, we have made the difficult decision to sign the new agreement while actively working toward a more affordable and sustainable long-term home.
π The market remains open.
We will continue operating at the VVC Lower Campus every Thursday while we secure a suitable location and complete everything required to relocate legally and responsibly.
Finding land is only the beginning. Each potential site must be evaluated for demographics, traffic, accessibility, parking, vendor setup, operational logistics, zoning, and conditional use permit requirements.
Once a site is selected, we must also complete or transfer the necessary agricultural certifications, Environmental Health permits, USDA, CalFresh and WIC program approvals, EBT equipment, payment systems, website information, signage, printing, and marketing.
Even after securing a workable property, this process may take a minimum of three months.
Our GoFundMe is now live
We have launched a GoFundMe to help cover:
π The increased rent during this transition
π‘ Property, leasing, or potential purchase expenses
π Zoning, permits and required approvals
π± Certifications and program changes
π³ Technology, EBT and payment-system updates
π Moving, setup, printing, signage and marketing
We have intentionally set an ambitious goal because our greatest hope is to find property the market can purchase and build upon for generations to come.
Any funds remaining after the marketβs relocation is completed and all related obligations are paid will be donated to OUR Rescue to support the fight against human trafficking.

If you are unable to donate, sharing the fundraiser, continuing to shop with our farmers and vendors, or sending us a qualified property lead can make a meaningful difference.
Qualified property leads may be emailed to [email protected]. Please include the property address and the best contact personβs phone number or email address.
