💙 LEGENDS NEVER DIE — THEY LIVE FOREVER. 💙
This past Saturday, we said goodbye to a true legend, Ernie Accorsi — and while the world remembers an extraordinary NFL executive, the New York Giants remember their Hall-of-Fame-caliber leader, and football remembers the man who helped build championship teams… we at Fenicci’s remember Ernie a little differently.
We remember our friend. Our local hometown legend. Our Fenicci’s family.
Ernie was born and raised right here in Hershey, Pennsylvania, but his heart belonged to the Giants. He became one of the most respected executives in NFL history, serving as the Giants’ General Manager from 1998–2006. He was instrumental in bringing Tom Coughlin and Eli Manning to New York, and his vision helped build the foundation of the Giants teams that went on to win Super Bowls. He was later inducted into the New York Giants Ring of Honor. (Giants)
But for us, Ernie was so much more than his incredible résumé.
He was the man who spent countless hours sitting at our bar, sharing stories, memories, football wisdom and laughter with us.
I will never forget the happiness on Phil’s face when Ernie let him put on his Giants GM championship ring. For Phil, it was a dream come true.
I will never forget Ernie bringing Philip a Giants football signed by the players, and patiently explaining the rules of football over and over again while they watched Super Bowls together at his favorite local restaurant — Fenicci’s. He was always proud to tell people about us and promote his hometown place wherever he went.
And then there were the memories with his family — Michael sharing one of his beautiful paintings of the local gas station with us, and promoting his movie right here in one of our dining rooms.
These are the memories that stay.
Ernie wasn’t just a famous Giants GM to us.
He was our friend.
He became such a part of Fenicci’s that we eventually gave him something very special — his very own chair.
And that chair will never really be empty.
It will always be filled with his stories.
His laughter.
His wisdom.
His energy.
His friendship.
And the love he gave so freely.
Phil always used to say, “We know we are in Central PA, but our hearts belong to the Giants.”
And Ernie understood that better than anyone.
So Ernie… tonight, as the Giants take the field, I hope you are somewhere up there sitting beside Phil, sharing a b**r, telling stories and cheering your Giants on. 💙🏈
Thank you for every story.
Every laugh.
Every lesson.
Every memory.
And most of all, for allowing us to call you our friend.
Sending our deepest love and prayers to the entire Accorsi family and to everyone whose life Ernie touched.
Rest peacefully, Ernie.
Your chair at Fenicci’s will always be yours.
Forever missed.
Never forgotten.
Always part of our family.
💙🏈🍻
Legends never die. They live forever.
And Ernie… please give Phil a hug from all of us. ❤️
