we need to talk about the Moroccan Spiced Coffee. it barely survived round one on a tiebreaker. then it knocked out a top seed. then it knocked out ANOTHER seeded drink. it has now dismantled half this bracket from the bottom of the seeding and it is four cups from a title. cinderella is not a story anymore, she is a threat!

also RIP to the Canadiano 🪦 a top seed, a first-round bye, gone. beaten outright by the Rose-Cardamom Latte, and not by a hair, by a landslide. that is two bye seeds now eliminated. only one of our original top four is still standing.

and the Iraqi Chocolate Coffee's cinderella run is over too. it came from the very bottom of the bracket to the elite eight before the top seed finally ended it. honestly, respect ☕️

Moroccan Spiced Coffee: pour-over with a north african spice blend (cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, cardamom, clove, black pepper) bloomed right into the grounds. warm and aromatic.
Dalgona: the whipped coffee cloud over cold milk. sweet, frothy (the one you've definitely seen on the internet).

uzbekistan plays at noon, and at kickoff we're dropping the Pomegranate Bumble: tart ruby-red pomegranate juice over a double shot of espresso, tall over ice.

pomegranates are everywhere in central asian food + tradition, so this is our nod to that. espresso but make it bright, fruity, and a little unexpected. nation 22 on the board.

Chocolate Coffee: strong dark coffee, sweetened with condensed milk, chocolate + caramel stirred through. then topped with chocolate nibs, chopped pistachios, and a dusting of cocoa.

traditional Yerba Mate. not coffee. Argentina's national drink: dried yerba leaves steeped strong + earthy, sipped through a metal straw called a bombilla.

argentina plays at noon and the reigning champs bring yerba mate, their national drink, brewed traditional-style. the thing we love: mate is meant to be shared. one gourd, one straw, passed around the circle. most communal drink on earth, basically our whole vibe.
